My kitten is 8 months old, and I started noticing for the first time that after she has one of her crazy non-stop running around play sessions that her breathing sounds like it has a slight wheeze for a few minutes afterwards if I listen closely.   She has no other symptoms otherwise and she goes back to sounding normal after a few minutes but could this be a symptom of kitty asthma?  Mild respiratory infection?

Kittens and cats generally under age two can pant after heavy excercise.  AN URI seems unlikely unless there were other symptoms.

I never knew that.  I also never noticed it before recently, and she always runs around like crazy.

Well new behaviors are concerning. If she used to run around without panting but has started panting with the same exercise, that could be concerning. Has she event had a vet exam?

I dont know if this is a new thing, since I have to put my ear right up to her to hear it since it's very faint.  She had a full exam and was dewormed and had shots at 2.5 months old, and then was spayed at 5 months old.  All seemed well at that point from the vet. I plan on taking her for her 1 year check up in 4 months but I don't know if I should take her sooner because of this.  She seems completely fine and healthy otherwise.

If you have to put your ear up to her she sounds normal.  If she was open mouth breathing then maybe it would be a larger concern.  She sounds fine, but i would not want to discourage a vet visit.

I agree with what StephenQ says. My cat has asthma and you can definitely tell. Asthma looks just like this vid.
