New kitten owner!

Hello all, new kitten owner here. We got them both from a family who discovered there youngest had allergies but they were also unsure of the parentage of the two. They did say they got both of them from a shelter. I was curious if anyone had any insight on what breed they may be best I can tell the black one has some sort of long haired breed also I should mention on a lot of his body the roots of his hair are white with the ends black don't know if they helps also he doesn't meow at all just makes pigeon noises and a few other odd ones, the calico/tortoise does meow.

Our gracie ! We never owned a kitten before ! Got her when we thought she was 8 weeks ! When we took her to the vets a week later transpired only 8 weeks then ! 4 months old now ! Fussy eater ! Will onlly eat boiled chicken or an expensive vet diet food (she's sick on anything else). Will only go to toilet if litter is clean (hence cleaned litter 3 times a day)! Would bite us to pieces and next minute sleep above our heads and let us cradle like a baby ! Jumps on our backs or shoulders to travel and around the house and greets us every evening after work, lying on her back, with her paws up and showing her belly by the door ! To think I never really wanted a cat as thought they were not affectionate like dogs and didn't really like you ! She follows us every where, in each room and when we she sleeps, when we wake she wakes ! Thank you gracie ! We lost our son at birth 2 years ago and you are making us smile again x
