We are so gladthat you found us and happy that your hubby gave you the green light to own a kitty
You've come to the right place where there are many precious articles that will help one raise and keep a cat and ask questions about cats. Do post photos of your new kitty when you have it
I'm starting to look online, in our local shelters, and will be contacting them soon.
I'm looking for a young adult, as much laid back as possible, and independent, as he/she will need to be alone while we work.
My hubby is a bit afraid due to a bad experience as a child. My parents latest cat (she was mine iniatially, but they insisted to keep her when I moved out, and I couldn't say no) was a bit frisky and he tolerated her, but was not really totally confortable around her. Ok, she was more Dennis the Menace, then sweet, so I kind of understand him not warming to her.
So, because of this, I'm looking for an affectionate, mellow cat.
Off course, this is the plan. When we get to the shelter, we'll probably be completely in love with the most rascal of them all, and end up with a terrorist cat! One never knows!
Yes, please adopt from the shelter. Let the cat choose you. Although most of the times we want what we have in mind and sometimes it does not end well. But for cats, it's better to let them choose you. Choose the one that's most friendly to you when you are at the shelter. The one that approaches you.
As for being alone, it takes some time as it'll be a new environment to the cat but make sure your house is cat safe. Most important is shower your kitty with lots of love.
I do hope that you'll you'll find a cat that falls I love with you. Do let us know and please post photos of your new kitty
I can't really have two, lack of space. Cannot for the love of me fit two litter boxes in my small apartment. Believe me, I would if I could (I even found the perfect sisters).
This was my previous, first and only cat, until now. I had to let her go in May 2016, after a battle of a month and a half. She was my mean Countess Zoya. I loved her to bits!
I'll send pictures of the new kitty as soon as he/she gets home. As you can see I love taking pictures of my babies.
The dogs in the pics with her were her best friends in the entire world. I missed them too very much.
Just to be clear. My cat lived with my parents the last 13 years of her life, because when I got divorced I moved in with them temporarily and Zoya went with me. When it was time to move on with my life, my parents offered to keep her, as she would be alone for almost 12 hours a day and she wasn't used to it (before the divorce she had the Doberman to keep her company). I agreed because it was the best for her.
Nontheless I visited every weekend and more, went to every vet appointment and was finantially responsible for her, reason why I couldn't have another cat until now. I could never have forgiven myself if I could not give her the best care. And she really needed it in the end.
Zoya was so beautiful. She was certainty worthy of her title of "Countess". I'm sorry for your loss but am excited you'll soon be bringing a new furry one into your heart and home [emoji]10084[/emoji]️
