Hello! Just adopted my girl yesterday!

Hello! I am a first-time cat owner (as an adult), and couldn't be more thrilled about the cat I adopted yesterday. She's four years old, and was recently transported to where I live in NY from a high-kill shelter in TN, where her owner surrendered her after they could no longer care for her. Her shelter name was Turtle:


She is the SWEETEST little girl who got right into her carrier, didn't cry the whole way home, and hopped right out when we got here. She loves snuggles and trots around the house behind me everywhere I go. I call her my little lion, because I think she looks like one

That being said, I want to give her a new name fitting of her personality! I have several ideas but am having a hard time picking. I like the idea of giving her a name that means "little lion" "gentle lion" or something of the sort. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Glad that she settled in well. She is a lovely Tortiseshell. No wonder they named her Turtle.

Lion in Swahili is Simba and in Italian is Leone or Spanish is Leon and Latin is Leo.

Nala, Sarafina, Sarabi or Kiara (from the Lion King)
Ari (Lion in Hebrew)
Bala (Strength in Sanskrit)
Zaki (Lion in West African)

She's very beautiful, and sounds like such a sweetie.

In addition to HelloMissKitty's suggestions, Sher means lion in Persian, and there's always Leona.

That's what I named my girl after! And then Frozen came out!

Update: Thanks for all the comments, everyone! More than 72 hours in and I keep loving her more and more as she gets more comfortable and shows her personality. I decided to name her Zolari - I really liked the name Zola, which translates to docile, and decided to combine it with Ari to create what roughly translates to "docile lion" - which I think is very fitting for her!
