Where do you think?
Hello. I was given this eye medication called tetracycline to put in my cats eye however I am unsure if I'm doing it right. The vet who prescribed it left no instructions at all on how to use it. I assume it just gets applied like eyedrops into the lower eyelid? My cat squirms a lot and I don't want to hurt her eye lense.

No, that's not the best way to use it.  It is an ointment, so what I do is wash my hands, then get situated with the cat.  I put a strip of the ointment on my finger, lengthwise, and then use the other hand to hold her head.  I can then use my ointment finger to brush the medicine on her lower lid.

What you have done is actually risky in terms of contaminating the medicine inside.  Would it be possible to get a new one from your vet?

Sorry hard to be descriptive over the Internet. I did not actualy touch the bottle to her eye since I didn't want to scratch her lense. I put a small drop into the lower eyelid.

Oh, good.  Try the way described above where you almost roll the strip of ointment into the eye from your clean hand.

The ointment doesn't have to go inside the lower lid; you can put it directly on the eyeball or on top of it by pulling back the upper eyelid. It's much easier and less frightening for the cat to apply it from above/behind. Ointment can be applied directly from the tube, but make sure the tip doesn't actually touch the eye.

This video shows how to do it:

Thanks for the input all. I just went with what I know from putting cream in the kids eyes.

Indy is pretty good with it when I can get her to stay still. She isn't fussy she just is very high strung and doesn't like to sit still for long.
