Hi cat lovers. I'm troubled by an issue I've been dealing with at home and even though she's been in & out if 3 vets this last weekend, I wanted to take this to the group here to see if anyone has experienced something similar. My 8 year old (very healthy) indoor/outdoor cat has been down / lethargic for over a week now. She is not acting like her usual aggressive, sassy self. She doesn't really want to go outside, she doesn't move as quickly as she used to and when I'm petting her, she doesn't demand it or lean in to it as aggressively as she used to. She sleeps a lot and looks a little dazed. I thought this was due to unusual below freezing temps in our area (she LOVES being outside), but once it warmed up, her behavior didn't change back to normal. I took her to the vet and she had a very high fever (104.7). They ran her bloodwork (all normal), gave her antibiotics and IV fluids and sent her home with me and asked me to bring her back the following day. When I brought her back, I could tel something was wrong even before we got to the vet. She didn't fight me putting her in the carrier and she didn't howl as usual on the drive to the vet. Once we got there, she also didn't fight the vet who was poking and proding and taking her temp (very unusual... Usually hisses and swats). Her fever dropped only a tad overnight so the vet told me to take her into the ER vet for an ultrasound. Her fever spiked at 105.5 at the ER vet and they sedated her to run an ultrasound, urine test and FIV screen. Again, nothing suspicious/worrisome turned up in the results. They gave her more fluids and sent her home a few hours later when her fever was under 103. This is now my 3rd day with her home and while she's shown some interest in going back outside (I even saw her climb up a tree I'd never seen her in before), she's still in a total daze, sleepy, moving much slower than usual and mot her aggressive/forceful self when I pet her. Re: fever, she feels normal to slightly warm throughout the day. Something is definitely still wrong. I've already spent $800 on tests and they tell me nothing is wrong but I know my cat. If anyone has experience with this sort of odd behavioral change, please chime in. I'm worried about my tough little friend. Thanks in advance!

They didn't give you any antibiotics or any medicine at all to help reduce her temperature?
A cat with a fever feels bad, will be lethargic (not her usual self at all), and probably won't eat.
And she MUST eat.
If she's not eating, get some ground turkey and/or adult vitamin milk supplement and she if she will nibble at least a little bit of that, or drink a little of the supplement.
And I would take her to a completely different vet for a 2nd opinion.
You can also get a 20 second digital thermometer for less than $10 and take her temp yourself.

Also, If she no longer has a fever,  It will still take her several days to recover and be back to normal.

Thx, I will get my own thermometer for her. Good recommendation. They injected antibiotics on our first visit when she had the 104+ temp. Nothing else. She is difficult to give meds to, so I opted for that instead. Only problem with a 2nd vet altogether is cost... I've already spent $800 :(
