My cat has this craving for pandoro (an italian christmas cake) and im not sure if its healthy for her. Its a plain cake with no chocolate in it. She even likes rice crispies

No, it's not healthy: cats are meat eaters, not cake eaters! Even without chocolate, cake isn't cat food, what with ingredients like wheat and, especially, sugar. (Nor are Rice Crispies!) Maybe your cat could have a little plain chicken -- just chicken, no salt, spices, or anything else -- when you have cake?

Thank you for your advice. I was very alarmed when she took a big bite of cake out of my plate. I stopped her right away

Welcome @giulia b  to the site!!!

I am not an expert on cat food, but I do agree with @LisaHE  that it is best to keep human foods away from cats.  My cat will always try to lick butter off a toast if I am eating that.    Maybe it is the butter in the cake?

We are so glad that you joined and look forward to seeing you in the forums!

Personally, if I don't know the ingredients of something, my cats aren't getting it.  Pandoro is similar to Panettone, correct? If so, I know that typically has raisins in it which cats should not eat (dogs even more so - quite toxic to them)

I also wouldn't give cookies to a cat.  They don't need the added carbs, which they can't process and will only lead to obesity.  I'm sure your cat is not literally craving that food - it's probably more related to the fact that YOU have it.  I'm sure if it was your cabinet out of sight, they aren't sitting in front of it begging for cake LOL.

Best to stick with pure protein treats like dehydrated chicken.  Much better for them and I'm sure your cat won't miss the cookies at all

Yes, cats do things like this sometimes! One of ours tends to go for cheese and bread but cake doesn't surprise me too much, either. We have to keep the bread in a cabinet the cats can't reach.
