Hello there!

I have a 1.5 years old black(ish) kitten. She has plenty of fur and at this age she weights around 3 kgs. Can anyone help me please what is the breed she might be the closest to? I would love to know how big she will grow later....

Thank you!

She is a beauty.

Without papers of some sort she is a Domestic Long Hair in black. A lot of times you will see black cats bleach out a little if they enjoy the sun into a dark brown or more of a dark brown in the sun when the light hits them right. It could also be that she is more smoke colored because it does appear that her fur isn't a solid black especially in the tummy picture. Smoke coats typically have some silvering at the base of the fur; if she does have that it is very subtle. But I can't really tell if the color difference is from a sun loving kitty or from natural fur coloring.

Hazarding a guess, she has a close relative who is a Siberian Cat. That coat, eye, face, tufts and fluff is all very reminiscent of the Siberian breed. It should be noted that the Siberian is a very old breed and some theorize that all modern long hair cats can trace their ancestry back to the Siberian which means you can also have those same characteristics appear randomly with the right mixing.

But.... I'd put my money on her having a recognized modern day Siberian relative as opposed to lucky mix.

If I am right you can expect her to continue to slowly grow until she is about 5 years old and possibly hit 4.5kg. She is on the smaller end of the Siberian at her age so 4kg would be more likely. The important factor there though is to not be startled or worried if she continues to slowly grow and gain weight. You would want to pay more attention to her body condition than the scale while she grows. And when I say slowly, I do mean slowly. My boy is still growing a little as some large breed and Siamese mix. He gained a quarter kg in the past 6 months. I didn't even notice but the vet has it on her charts but despite the weight gain he is still the right body condition so that's what matters. I am pretty sure he got taller during that time since he keeps hitting his head on chairs.... or he is a giant klutz... take your pick.

Dear @Kieka,

Thank you so much! I would never have imagined receiving such a complex and indeed helpful answer!!!! You must be a great person and a true cat enthusiast! :) I thought I would get some 1-2 word guesses, so thank you so much for this stunning description!!! :)

Btw I think this is her genuine color as there has not been much sunlight in the past couple of months here in Hungary. And yes, she really is a beauty! :)
Cheers!
