We got our Bagheera as a kitten.  She was abandoned at our local feed store not more than a week old and barely had her eyes opened. We saw her and knew that she belonged in our new home as a new member of our family.  She is not more than 9 months old now, thin, small, very active and a typical cat.  And so it begins. She has not had any siblings to play with to learn when to stop other than our 9 year old son. Here is the problem.  She gets so upset sometimes when play ceases that she attacks him.  No my husband or I but our son.  It is teeth and claws too.  I am concerned about her actions and worry about her actually harming my son. I usually tell my son to walk away but she continues to attack sometimes running after him

Anyone have any suggestions?

What you can try with an over excited cat that still has too much energy and wants to get boistrous and play fight is keep a large cat toy such as kickeroo to hand.  Use that in front of your hand, arm, body for the cat to attack and try to divert their attention on to the toy. The hope is that they will then start to see the toy as what they want to wrestle with and give the human a bit of peace.  If they will divert to something which isn't contact wrestling you can try something like a circuit toy and start off the play with you / your son or who ever is the target of the play engaging in the circuit play together with the cat, batting the ball forward and back between you, and hopefully then back off with the cat enjoyin the game on their own.

It is always difficult with children (it's hard enough as adults) to get used to the playing dead / staying still routine so the cat gets board so sometimes using the diversion method is easier.

Yes, She was fixed in December.  Sorry for the delay in reply, I've been really ill.
