Hi guys! So I'm getting a kitten as play mate for my current cat. He's only around 3 weeks old now. So will probably only get him in March or April.

This is the little guy! Can you guys help me by telling me what type of colour is he? And also whether you think he would have long or short hair. Thank you!

Bonus photo because he looks adorable here! [emoji]128513[/emoji]

Lovely little pointed baby.

Fur length is likely short (98% sure). Most of the time long hair kitties will have little tufts on their paws and/or ears. But that is not 100% and I had a kitten who went "poof" and became a long haired puff ball without warning at 4 months old.

He isn't pure anything as attested to with the white mitts but he does have the pointed gene in him and will likely continue to change over the next few months as the fur darkens. I am going to say seal point at a guess. Most likely bicolor which means you will have other white patches hidden within his current coloring that will pop as the rest of the coat darkens.

You may end up with white on the face, other parts of the body, or the mitts might end up being the only white. Could end up being just the standard white chest, could be swirls or patches or white, the exact patterning within the pointed will show more as he gets older. I have seen some really cute pointed fosters that end up with some interesting markings. There is one being fostered right now in Vegas by @fostercatsandkittens (on instagram) that is a very interesting patterning almost like she is tortie under the pointed which I would love to see as she grows. That is one of my favorite parts of the pointed gene on moggy cats; the variety is endless and the surprise as they grow is so much fun.

My boy at 5-7 weeks and my boy last week (almost 3). You can see how the white spots stayed white and everything else got darker around it.

Slight thread jack.....

Just so people don't have to go looking for what I am talking about above is the little girl I mentioned in my other posting with the interesting pointed color.

The backstory is that there are two females (in the other picture) who were turned over to the shelter together and are mother and daughter. They are bonded and had kittens within days of each other. The momma kitties cared for the two litters as one, feeding and cleaning kittens regardless of which was whose. They were all sick on arrival and there were two tortie babies, two pointed babies and two ginger babies that survived.

This little girl is actually looking for a home for anyone in Vegas or willing to travel just contact the foster Mom through instagram. I think the mommas are looking for homes too but they are a bonded pair.

@StefanZ  I thought the coloring might be of interest to you on the little one.

@jqtiang  Your little boy is adorable too and I can't wait to see adult pictures of him either. Apologies for the slight off topic posting.

Kieka Kieka thanks for the reply! And wow. Your boy looks magnificent with his colouring. His blue eyes really pop.

I'm really looking forward to see how this kitten's fur will change as he grows!

Her eyes are a lighter blue than Links. Hers tends towards more of a grey-blue indoors.

Both of them get that horrible red eye with flashes and sometimes Link's end up just odd with low light and indoors. Like this one where he has just an edging of light coloring at the bottom. Pay no mind to his shaved spot on the arm, he's been accident prone of late and that was/is where he had an infected bug bite (almost all better now).

You get really good at getting just the right light to capture blue eyes with the pointed fluffs. Hint, natural light is your best friend.

And yes, I love reasons to show photos of them

Kieka Kieka love her marking too! Looks like some kind of eye mask. Haha! I understand what you mean by having reasons to show their photos! Haha!

This is the most recent photo the person sent me. Isn't he precious?

Anyway, this is my current cat. The natural light just makes her eyes look so bright! ( I love any reason to show off my cat as well. [emoji]128521[/emoji])
