Hello. I have a cat named Soxs who keeps peeing everywhere! Ever since we had another animal in the house, he has been peeing in hidden places or trying to pee on clothes, carpet, beds, and shoes. It has gotten really bad to the point where my family is thinking of getting rid of my cat Soxs, and I really love him. The kitten in the house is not fixed, although Soxs is. I wonder if its a problem with the kitten not being fixed??? My cat Soxs uses the litter box, but decides to pee in other places too. We just moved into a new home, and now it just smells like cat pee!

I also have a problem with the kitten and Soxs fighting a lot too. Is it because I have to fix the kitten? Hopefully I can have some advice on this, as I am not a cat expert, :p

Thanks!

Neutering the kitten asap will certainly hel with the smell.  Male cats who are not neutered develop a scent in their urine which they use to mark things by spraying them.  Even if not spraying, the litter box can become very stinky with a non-neutered male and you need to dump it and wash it every day to avoid your whole house smelling like that.  If the kitten is very young, then he is not yet producing the stink, but if he is four months or older, it's there and neutering will help.  Sox is probably marking everything in the house with HIS pee because of the new arrival.  Did you search how to make proper introductions or did you just bring in the new kitten and let him take over the house?

Since Sox was there first, he is already family, and HE should not be the one to go away because they brought in another kitten.  If you can't get this worked out, then the other kitten should go, but I would suggest getting him neutered first and seeing if that helps; there are also pheremone diffusers you can plug in (expensive, like $40 each) that should help the cats be calm.

In the meantime, I would suggest confining Sox to one room, like your bedroom, bring in his OWN litter box with clean litter, one the other cat does not use, and hiave his water dish and bed there, and feed him in there.  When the litter box is all his, he will probably use it.  He needs a territory of his own to start with and that is the fastest fix.  Search articles on how to introduce a new kitten or cat to the family and follow those instructions carefully and maybe these two can start over.  Sox is just reacting to the introduction of a stranger into what used to be his own space.  If they become friends, he will not feel the need to mark everything as HIS.  And I'm sure friendship will be easier when the new guy is neutered.
