hey guys, im new here, and been pretty busy to actually roam around the threads and all the articles so i wish someone could help or point me to a specific place where i can know about this.

so here whats this is, ive got a 1.2 y/o cat, my dad think shes something with seamise and all in all shes pretty small, around 4 k"g, maybe bit more maybe a bit less. we live in a somewhat chilly apartment and now its usually cold. my dear pixie don't got neither fat nor fur to help her through this winter and im wondering if its such a big deal, or should i try...i don;t know, dress her?, fatten her up?, i cant just hug her and let her in my jacket all the time...she's got plenty of box beds in the house, with blankets and i even try to use a hot water bottle beneath one of her favorite beds (which she sometimes accept and sometimes disagree sharing the bed with) .

and on an unrelated note lately she starts to breath heavily, or atleast...in a way that i can hear, its not like panting after a long run, just letting one or two heavy breaths and that continue to breath normally, it doesnt seem to affect her playing or what not but it's still wierd...any ideas?, or just like the snoring misses i just need to accept this ? :p

thanks for the help!

When you say "chilly" is it below sixty degrees F?  If so, I like your idea of the hot water bottle underneath a blanket that she could snuggle up next to.  I use our heating pad occasionally when one of my cats is ill..they love warmth.  Some cats are naturally quite lean so its tough to say if you need to fatten her up.  If she is part Siamese they are usually skinny.

Regarding her breathing, I have no idea.  Hard to tell from your description.. but if she seems to be in distress in any way you should consult your vet.

AS long as she's got plenty of beds with blankets in them that she COULD burrow in if she wanted, and you don't see her shivering, she should be ok.  She's indoors with you, right?  And you're doing ok with the temperature, right?  She has normal fur, correct?  (she's not a hairless cat?)

As far as a little "snore" now and then, I think it's perfectly normal.  One of my cats does that, and I think it's just the way his little face gets positioned, cause I'll sometimes touch him when he does it, and he'll move slightly and it'll stop.
