My 8 year old cat, Tinka-Chi, has had ongoing problems with an infected ear. She now has sore edges on her ear, that scab over but never quite heal. She has actually lost a small amount of her ear edges. I'm worried it might be skin cancer, as her ears are white. Any ideas? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think the only way that you'd really know, is bringing Tinka-Chi in to your Vet.

Skin issues could be caused by so many things, and hopefully, it can easily be treatable with some cream that the Vet would prescribe.

Even if you posted photos, I don't think anyone here could give you a proper idea.

It sounds painful, though, because the ears are sensitive.

This old thread has some ideas about Ringworm, and scabby ears, treatments, ...but again the OP took her cat in to the Vet to get proper cream, and shampoo, medical treatment.

Tinka-Chi might only need a round of antibiotics, or anti-fungals/anti-yeast cream, flea meds, or meds for ear mites.

There are too many things, that it could be.

I do hope it is not cancer, for your girl.

Please bring her in to your Vet, as soon as you can.

Yes, please take her to a vet. If it is skin cancer the quicker you get it seen to the better.

I think @catwoman707  has some experience of dealing with skin cancer in cats. White cats do seem to be prone to it, I'm afraid.

If your cat was outside in the winter cold for any long length of time she

may have frost bite that will turn white, then dark can cause many problems.

Any pictures of  this?

hope it's not to serious
  Good Luck

Yes I will let you know what the diagnosis is, and the treatment for it. Thank you.

This is about as far down as vets want to remove, at that point the ear is thick cartilage, causing her ears to take some time to heal.

I took this photo of her the day I opened her cage up, giving her freedom in her new home.

3 months from her surgery/vet trip.

LOL it took her about 2 days to finally leave her cushy room I made for her, she had never had that comfort before. Healed, healthy, new baby soft fur snow white, twice her weight, etc.

It took almost that entire period for her ears to heal too, due to the thicker cartilage.

This is why I strongly encourage you getting her tips removed now. The thinner the place where the cut is made, the faster her recovery. The less pain time.

Please post a pic, I'd love to see her!

She is beautiful! God bless you for helping her to know love. I have always rescued cats, it's just what I do. And it's hard to afford veterinary care when you have several cats.I will take a pic of Tinka, and post it soon. Thank you.
