I'm sure many of you have seen me on here. I've only been a cat owner for about a year now. I have a lot of questions and always looking for answers/or suggestions.

Last night, my 8 month old kitten and I were playing, getting her energy down to sleep. We were playing and unfortunately, she slammed into the wall pretty hard, face first. She shook her head and looked around before laying down. Right then and there, I called it a night.

The next morning, I noticed something was up with her right eye. There is blood in it, in the white. I immediately contacted my friend who is going to vet school, but also works at a animal hospital. I showed him pics and he told me, it may or my now go away. My kitten, Inari, has been acting very normal, her usual self. Her right pupil is normal size and reacts at the same time as her left when light enters it. There is no head tilt.

Will this go away on its own, or does she need to go to the vet? Well, I am planning on taking her Saturday, the latest being Monday if it doesn't clear up.

Since you are fairly certain that the blood is caused from trauma there isn't really a reason to worry. Definitely keep an eye on it and if you notice pain, swelling, bleeding from the eye, discharge, shaking her head, or other signs it is getting worse it does become an emergency vet situation. But assuming it stays the same or starts to clear then you can think of it like a bruise. I knew someone who had a sneezing fit and ended up bursting some blood vessels in her eye. The doctor gave her some drops for pain and sent her on her way. I think it cleared up in a week but looked pretty weird for that week.

In general the eye is a pretty resilient organ and heals remarkably well.

But I can totally understand taking her to the vet for peace of mind and the vet may be able to perscribe an eye ointment to help reduce pain or speed up healing.

I do believe it's from the trauma of hitting her head against the wall. It has never been there before. I noticed it this morning when I woke up.

I've read cats don't like to show pain. How will I know if she is in pain? When looking at her jus now, I seems she has ever so slightly swelling, but kinda hard to tell.
