Could be a song that describes you today or at some time in your past.

This song described my life for too many years. :(

Probably not an uplifting list but.....

Paper Doll by Bea Miller

"I'm not a paper doll

Can't make me what you want
You just build me up and tear me down
Enough's enough
Go, leave me alone
Cut me down but I won't fall
I'm not a paper doll

Did somebody make you feel invisible?
Is it true hurt people hurt people?
The way you hate and break
It don't make no sense at all
But you're not gonna make me feel invisible"

and

Congratulations by Rachel Platten

"I'm stupid and confused
My ego's raw and bruised
Your words were weapons and
They tore me down again
We play our conversation
You threw your accusations
I'm always so complacent
I never change the station

Help me find a sharper knife
I need to cut you out my life
I take it all, I let it slide
But hey, you went too far this time"

Bad relationship with a controlling personality. Emotionally and verbally abusive to the point of me thinking I was worthless and suicidal. I finally realized that something was going to break if I didn't do something and survival instinct took over (along with fear of him hurting Link in his anger). Spent the last 18 months rebuilding myself and evaluating a lot of things. But it still hung over me because I knew he would come back because I knew him and his habits.

In mid-November he contacted me again expecting me to fall back into his world again. I think he thought I just need time and space to regroup myself and that nothing would change. He asked me if I still had something he gave me too and if I was single so there was probably other things going on to prompt him contacting me. Dunno. But I refused to go back and told him that I could tell nothing had changed with him. He had hurt me badly and I wasn't going back to allow him to hurt me again. I wished him well with his wife (yeah, he got married in that time and was still approaching me, probably wanted to cheat on her too) and told him "while this trip down memory lane has been fun, please don't do it again."

He got super pissed, told me he never meant for me to matter to him and I was lucky I ever did. According to him I was supposed to "shut up and take the shit" but I "failed him by not keeping my mouth shut". He said he doesn't recognize me anymore; all he is left with is bad memories and I am not someone he will waste time on again....... Excuse me while I celebrate. lol

It felt like I was stuck in moving on because I was waiting for him to rool through again, ergo the songs. Combined with the whole complexity of everything related to him and the sheer drama and damage. Refusing him and knowing he is likely now gone for good is a relief.

Great post. Ain't men something? This guy comes sniffing around you again even though he has only "bad memories"? Would be laughable, but I know how much trouble guys like this can be.

Thanks for sharing good songs!

So were you both kayaking down the river when you met or you met at a boathouse?

LOL. My parents met on a river rafting trip down the Grand Canyon. My Dad took out the map at one point saying, "We keep going that way" (pointing downriver). My Mom thought he was an idiot. Somehow they got together after than and now married 38 years.

I am sure he will be back at some point. He has a terrible and very selective memory. Some of the things he said this time around were almost word for word the same s**t from the first time I said goodbye (which just shows how set in habit and personality he is that after 18 months he has the same argument). All of which he claimed he didn't remember so chances are with time and distance he will "forget" again. Looking back he really is a cancerous person with very few people lasting in his life longer than a year, not holding down a job long term and terrible relationship with his family. I could write stories about some of the things that happened. Plus I am still friendly with his younger brother and sister-in-law (I have dinner plans with them tomorrow actually), lol. So yeah, he will come around again.

Whatever, I will tell him to leave me alone again when that time comes. It doesn't feel so looming now that it has happened. Maybe I will get lucky and it won't happen again.

Sayin', "One love, one heart
Let's get together and feel all right."

:) My favorite. I keep repeating this for myself when I feel down or something!

Also I'm kind of person who likes love and happiness and supporting each other :)
