Once I got my kitten at 9 weeks old (from a farm) a cow had stepped on her leg and broke it but after she got a cast and all that the vet introduced her into food (she didn't want to eat before) and then she ate dry food and after a few weeks we switched to wet food for like 5-6 months and she had really bad breath so we took her to the vet and they said just to switch back to dry food so we did but she doesn't want to eat it I don't know what to do:sigh:

Since you kept your kitten off of dry food for so long, your going to have to slowly integrate it back to her. So, start with a small portion for the first week, but mixed it in with her wet food. When you see her eating it all, maybe a week or more, add a bit more. Once about at a half dry and a half wet, start taking more wet away and add more dry. Your basically weaning your cat off wet food.

Your also going to have to try finding a dry food she will like. Try starting with the brand of wet food she is eating. Place a couple of bits in front of her and see what she does.

Bad breath indicates poor dental health, not bad diet. Dry food does do a thing to keep the breath fresh smelling and the teeth healthy. No food does, though something like raw bones and gizzards may help a bit to remove plaque and food particles. Regular home dental care will keep your cat's teeth healthy. Use only pet toothpaste, never Human toothpaste which often contains an ingredient that is toxic to cats. Some vets don't pay much attention to pet dental care so don't expect much support from your vet if he / she dismisses dental care.

Canned food is better for your cat's health than dry food, IMO. Many people here on TCS recommend canned food over dry food. Your cat knows what a better food is
Is there a reason why you want to go back to only dry food? Maybe you can feed both canned and dry food.

Hi, I've read on a couple of Forums that wet food is much better than dry!!!

I only feed my kitten wet food during the day.  And a substantial "snack" of dry food at night.  This is simply so that she is used to it if I go away overnight and need to leave some extra food!  I tried a supermarket dry food and kitty unimpressed.  But Applaws dry kitten food she would eat all day if I let her.  You can tell its so much better than your average supermarket dry.  Perhaps just feed her wet and then slowly introduce a quality dry?

Sometimes bad breath comes from gastric problems. You can try mixing the powder from a probiotic capsule into her wet food daily to return the flora in her digestive tract to a more healthy balance.

Dental health can be a culprit too, as stated. Also, wet food is best for cats, with dry food available between meals.

I couldn't agree more about dental health being a cause of bad breath, rather than wet food. One of our cats had a terrible breath problem but she's smelled fresh for two years: she had a dental cleaning, we started brushing her teeth every day, and she was tested and treated for the Bartonella bacterium, which some vets (including our cat specialist) say can cause tooth problems. Edwina was young, too, when her problem started: her breath was terrible even when we adopted her at 10 months.

I also couldn't agree more about wet food being better for cats -- and what their instincts tell them to eat! -- than dry food. I'd say you're actually very fortunate!
