Believe me, I have tried EVERY home remedy there was, vinegar to the neck, boric acid wash, every one listed and none truly worked. I finally got on PetMeds or Dr. Smith's. those are the only two I order from and got a antibiotic eye ointment. You may need your vet's permission, I listed mine and had no problem. My cat was so used to me messing with his eyes it was no problem applying it, but they have to be calm. Pull down the bottom lid and apply a small strip of ointment in the 'pocket' that forms there. if they fight you, just apply a small amount in the inner corner of the eye and try to gently spread it across the eye lid crack on the outside until they let you get more inside the eye where it is supposed to be. My cat seemed to enjoy warm compresses applied to his sore eye, I tore up a tea towel into little strips so I could launder them in bleach and reuse them. He had this infection for months, the ointment cleared it up in days. I'm curious to see if anyone really had luck with the home remedies, I want to see if I missed anything. Good luck!

If the polyfax is a skin ointment only, then NO.  You can't use skin topicals on eyes.

If it's an opthalmic ointment, call your vet.  Until you know what is causing the conjunctivitis, you shouldn't use anything without consulting your vet.
