I'm very nervous. My cat is 6 months old and she loves to eat feathers... last night before 5 am she passed a big blob of... stuff. Didnt see blood, she seemed fine and i fed her... i wake up to her puking up her food at like 8 am... she still seemed okay. There was some string in some of the poop. Played a bit. She has gotten more lethargic since then and she puked up some pink liquid... she wont eat now...

I made an appointment first thing in the morning but what are the chances she's just reacting to the first obstruction?? I mean, what are the chances of two obstructions??

Vet first.  This is not something that you want to play with.  Especially with strings in the first vomitus.  There could be more than one blockage, depending on what she has gotten into.  The "strings" really worry me.  Are you talking about actual strings or stringy material?  But...VET!  Yes.

Please keep us posted on this!  You have wandered into one of the most caring cat forums I've ever found.  We will worry.  Best of luck, and I'll be saying prayers for your little one.

When things settle down, please go over to New Cats on the Block and introduce yourself and your kitten.  Pictures are always welcome.

Just repeating the need for the vet.  It's possible that she's dealing with one obstruction and getting rid of it in bits and pieces.  It also sounds like some of that obstruction is still present.  As @Mamanyt1953  says, please let us know what the vet says.  We will worry.  I hope she's okay.  And yes, please introduce yourself and your girl when this is all over!

ETA:  Please keep a close eye on her.  If she seems to be getting worse, you should take her to an emergency vet.

This is a medical emergency and she needs to be seen by the vet ASAP.  I don't want to scare you, but this could be fatal.

Thank you for your concern. I'm watching her closely. I called the emergency vet and they said it can wait until morning. Its tough waiting. She's so lethargic and tired

I am thinking maybe she has an ulcer, maybe still an obstruction... We'll see in 5 hours....

As I wrote this she vomited again, this time it was much clearer than the others, just a light pink... and she meowed a lot less this time. Before she would cry for 30 seconds and then run around as she puked. I feel better about waiting.

Good move, calling the emergency vet.   I was worrying, thinking she needed to be seen right away.   It  does seem most likely that you're dealing with an obstruction given that you know she ingested something foreign recently (shown by the string in her poop.)     BTW:  where is she getting feathers?  Is she catching birds?

Good luck and thank you for the update.  I'm a bit less worried than I was.

So the vet just gave her some anti-nausea medicine and fluids. Vet just said to let it pass if there is more, and she's not worried about the obstruction causing immediate issues. The pink in her throw up is probably throat irritation, popping a blood vessel. This isn't such a bad thing with animals as it is with humans. This is my baby. <3

It sounds like the vet is not worried about any blockage, so that's a good thing.  How is your little girl this morning?  She certainly is a darling with that inquisitive look in her eyes.  Thanks for letting us know she's okay and here's hoping the worst is over!

No more feathers please.  (whether real or on a toy).  And no more strings.

Please use more kitten-safe toys only ..and every toy you buy, cut off any strings or bells or....feathers.

If she doesn't vomit or expel in her stool the rest of a feather or string within 24 hours, or, if her symptoms worsen (vomits food AND water, is lethargic, weak, unable to get comfortable, distended abdomen, crying out, drooling, panting, bluish/deep red/grayish gums above her teeth), then get her to an emergency vet right away for a barium xray.
