Believe me I despise people who dump animals like trash. I don't like cats shitting in my property either but I just shoo them away with the hose or let the dog out.

I've never put a collar on my cats. They're totally indoor and we are VERY careful* they don't go out.

*(We only come and go through the garage, put the outside door down before opening the inner door and vice versa when going out. Have been doing that since 2005 when we first got cats. A couple times Swanie did get out into the garage when he was younger, but hasn't even tried in years, or Cricket either).

We're very careful but feel more secure in having our cats used to wearing collars.

We do the same thing!

Our cats still wear collars though since there are some people who will insist on coming to the front door when visiting. :p

Seriously?  And you are here on The CAT site?
I have no problem with cats it's the irresponsible roosters who don't take care of them I hate. Also when you have kids running around the toxoplasmosis in the soil isn't good.

Keep the kids from touching/digging in/playing in the dirt!  It is not cats' fault they need a place to eliminate, as would and do many humans on this earth who do not have the luxury of plumbing.  And letting a dog loose on cats is cruel and should not be allowed to occur.

Kaleb wears a blue collar with a fish print and it has a plastic clasp. It also has a bell. When I saw it I thought it was the cutest thing and he doesn't seem to mind it. He managed to fight out of it several times the first couple of days but he is easily distracted and gets over it quickly. I bought him a sweater this weekend too!

Kaleb in his blue collar and matching sweater:

OMC he is TOO cute!  His little outfit looks so nice on him.  I don't usually like clothes on cats, but he looks very warm and comfy in his little blue sweater!

Actually your chances of getting toxoplasmosis from cat poop are pretty slim. Most people have already been exposed to toxo and in order to catch it from a cat you would have to

a) Have no prior exposure. b) Ingest cat poop within 3 weeks of the cats first becoming infected.

You're much more likely to get toxo from gardening or handling uncooked meat
