Hey guys! Okay so I'm really angry and worried. I'm living with my boyfriends family and today his dad scheduled a pest exterminator to come without telling me - and I wasn't home. Also this surprise visit did not give me time to board my pet, which I would've done if I knew.

What they did was put Reiko into her cage (it has wheels and can be moved about), and the exterminator went spraying the whole room corners and told me that it will dry in 2-3 hours and will not be toxic to my cat once dried.

The thing is, she has been sitting in the room with the fan on and all the spray fumes are probably swirling about the air and I'm so afraid of letting her out of the cage even if the chemicals are dry. Is it safe? Please advice on what I can do - I'm so worried and angry, on top of all the work I'm supposed to be doing on my laptop now before my boss' deadline.

That sounds like it could've caused damage just being in there. I would ask what it was that was sprayed and call a vet and ask what the effects could be and do some research online about the product. I personally would be outraged about the lack of telling me. I hope everything is OK.

If there's any other room in the home that was NOT sprayed, take her into that room and leave her, her food/water, litterbox in the room for 24-48 hours if possible (provided the food and water dishes and litterbox were not in a room that was sprayed, and if so, wash and clean them thoroughly).  Meanwhile, as krisrath11 stated above, find out the chemicals used and call your vet immediately so he can determine if those areas in the house are safe.

Every room was sprayed and I feel that she is safest in my room. She's meowing to be let out of the cage but I refuse to do so. I've washed the bowls and box just in case too as I wasn't around when they were spraying so I'm not sure where they did. Called the vet too. My vet told me as long as she doesn't lick or touch the chemicals, she would be fine. Thing is, I'm not too convinced because any ill effects might probably come later on.

Anyone else has experience with this??

I believe for the most part, the sprays are fairly safe when they have dried, but to be safe, I would still leave her in the room you feel she is safest in and if the weather permits, leave other windows open a crack for ventillation, but don't leave windows open to let in drafts or that she could escape from (instruct the family, she is NOT to be able to get through an open window!)!.  In a day or two, any bugs that were targeted, should be rid of, so I would at least take a damp cloth with soap and water and wipe down the baseboards and anything that was sprayed at a cat's level around the house (yes, what a chore, but it's what I would do and have done so before).  Ask BF's dad for the pest control company's phone number, call them first thing in the morning and ask them where they sprayed (the extent of, like beyond baseboards, in cupboards or areas she could get to easily) and what chemicals were used.  They are most likely used to having to talk to pet owners with concerns about chemicals used.  When you find out the chemicals used, call your vet again and ask about prolonged exposure, particularly if she was in the same room while they were spraying (which I would be thoroughly ticked off and would be literally screaming at the pest control company for being so incredibly stupid)
