Hi all, I'm new to the site. I have never had cats before. At 50, now I find myself with three! 6 months ago, I found a litter of kittens in my old pigeon loft. I didn't touch them but put mom some food and water outside the loft. She is feral and has lived around here for several years. Her babies never live. This was the first time I found them. When I went out with more food, I heard a kitten screaming bloody murder. she had moved them all except one. She hadn't moved it yet. Well with all of the coyotes, hawks, and owls I figured it would be better off with me. The wee thing was only a few days old, so off to get supplies. I hand raised the now named Jasmine. About 2 1/2 months ago, I started putting food out in a trap. I wanted to catch mama cat and have her spayed. I caught 2 siblings to my kitten. Very obvious since they are all the same size and black and white. So I had those two sterilized. I found a home for one and kept the other (after I got them tamed and litter trained) so now I had two kittens.
Too cold to trap now, so started feeding the ferals at night to suppliment through winter. One cat I thought was feral turned out to be a sweety! He moved under my deck and would come running when I went outside. It got really cold and I brought him in side. Hubby said I could not keep him!! Well Pumpkin had his own views on that. He suckered my husband. Vet said he was already neutered and he had to have been dumped here. This cat wouldn't run away from nobody! He is gorgeous! Long orange hair , about 10 pounds, he looks like a lion! So now I have three cats. I made a house under the deck and feed the ferals every night. I'm trying to save up a bit of money. I found out there is a tnr program here. So I'm going to get them spayed, or neutered come spring. I don't want to trap one now and it sit in a cage in the cold.
Sorry for the novel. I just think it is cool how I ended up with three cats, lol.
