My poor little cat has been knocked over today, I'm devastated. He's in a bad way, has a broken femur, broken pelvis and a broken and dislocated tail. Im aware that its really bad, but the vet gave the option of going for advanced sugery for his pelvis, or putting him to sleep :( he's on loads of pain killers but the vet has said he has been eating and open to being petted. I really dont know what to do :( has anyone else experienced this where their cat has came out okay?

What do you mean by knocked over.  Those are some big breaks for a fall off a table or something.  Was the kitty hit by a car?

If the cat is into eating and likes being pet.  I would get the surgery.  Can your vet work out a payment plan, this can get expensive.

How old is the cat?

Yeah, hes been hit by a car. Hes only 2 and half. We got a call at around 1300 today to say he has eaten and drank and is looking better and then again later on after hed been for x-rays around 1600 basically saying what he'd broken, and that their facility isnt capable of treating him, so its the specialist - somewhere between 2.5k-3k (plus x-rays etc) of which only 400 is covered by insurance - the other option they were quite keen on is euthanasia which i dont feel is an option if hes eating and being himself. She said because of the tail injury shes going to monitor his "poop" reflex through the night and try and get in touch with the specialist for sometime tomorrow.

So Sorry  - have no experience but if his body functions are all working can live a happy life, is a young cat...

sounds like possibly facing 3 legs ?  'one leg is a spare' they can manage fine with 3 legs if that's your question.

Funds: Some posters have posted up Gofundme pages for emergency situations, people collect do drives to raise funds...or

if necessary you can discuss situation with local rescue organizations for assistance.

Hope that everything works out well for the both of  you  stay positive lots of help right here

If he is eating and drinking, I too would fix him up again, depending on your financial situation, and what are the recovery issues involved.

Will the kitty be able to lead a somewhat normal life with you.  The cat will need to be indoor only after.

Lots to consider.
