Update: diarrhea stopped; back to firm stool :) just minus a little water mixed with the formula.

However, Question again: Kitten is an exotic shorthair. It's day 8 today, eyes will soon open, I assume. However, these 2 days, when she yawns, there's a little tear coming out from her left eye... is that normal? I'm worried it's going to be an infection. And as I know exotic cats have shorter nose, they do get watery eyes a lot. but even before their eyes are opened?

Hopes somebody can help me with this, thanks in advance :)

It's hard to say. Shorthairs tend to open eyes earlier than longhairs though. Still, eyes opening up to 14 days is normal. One of my kittens opened his eyes at 5 days old.

Be prepared to treat an eye infection. It's common and requires an antibiotic ointment for the eyes like terramycin. If an eye seems goopy or stuck shut, use a warm, damp compress on it to soften and gently wipe it. Never force an eye open.

Hello Sarthur2!

I can do that? I don't have to wait until mama cat finish with her milk? If so, I will go ahead to make an appointment to get her spayed. Spring is just around the corner.

If the kitten's watery stool continues, I will send her to the vet directly. I cannot afford to lose the last one. I will keep an eye on her.

Thank you very much for your advice!!
More kitten photos, please! Will you be keeping the little one? Was this a planned litter?

Agreed that you can get her spayed now. Make sure she doesn't get out or let her around any intact males at all until she is spayed. Mom can get pregnant again at any time, even without going into heat.

She should stay inside regardless until the little one is fully vaccinated to protect the kitten, if you let her out normally.

Hello again Sarthur2!

Thank you! Actually, the father is Longhair, the mother is shorthair, so i'm not really sure if kitten is a long or shorthair. As i'm really worried about an eye infection, I have been using warm damp cloth to wipe her tiny eyes, just incase of crusty eyes. I cannot wait :)

Your kitten opened his eyes at 5 days old? Wow! That's a little early , I guess you were surprised too haha :D

Sure! I will upload the photos after this reply.

I will be keeping the little one for sure. This was not a planned litter, that's why I panicked a lot when I found out my cat was pregnant. However, I wanted my cat to have a litter before getting spayed, haha :)

Actually, I will first get the papa cat neutered, it would be easier for now. Later on I will get mama and baby kitten spayed :)

My cats are indoor cats, so for now, papa cat and mama cats are separated :)

Dad will be fertile to up to a month after his neuter, so be sure to keep them separated until after that point. They're very pretty cats.

By the way, guess what. You were right!

Kitten got an eye infection. There's some greenish/yellowish discharge crusting her eyes. Called the vet, but he said there's nothing we can do (as in no ointment) until her eyes are opened. (Day 10 today, still closed.). He suggested me to first warm damp cloth to wipe the eyes.

Really? Will she have trouble opening her eyes...?

Can you post photos of the eyes?
Sure! But I will take a picture at her next feeding time. She seems like enjoying her sleep at the moment.

Plus I just cleaned her eyes a bit, so can't really see the discharge...

Take her to a vet who will give you ointment that you can begin using around her eyes even before they open. Use the warm, damp cloth to gently clean and soften any crust. Do this several times a day. The eyes should still open when they are ready, but do NOT pry them open.

Seems like I should try another vet. I was thinking about that too actually.

I'm cleaning and softening the crust every 1-2 hours, it looks a bit better! (Not sure if it's just because it looks less crusty), and don't worry, i will not even dare to try opening them myself.

Thanks sarthur2! Thanks for answering my questions patiently!!!

Hello again :)

My 13 days old kitten rarely (almost never) cries.

Today I fed her at 11am, and was going to feed her again at 2pm-ish... However, at about 1:30pm, I heard her for the very first time crying so loud. All my cats rushed into my bedroom to see what was going on.

I had a feeling she was asking for milk, so I fed her, and she ate A LOT.

and THEN at 3:30pm-ish, she started crying again. not as loud as before though... So I fed her again.

Am I doing this right...? or should I let her cry or should I pat her or something to make her feel better...?

She has been eating well, pooping well, sleeping well, and active. She's learning to walk actually, she made a few wobbly steps front and backwards.

Should I feed her every time she cries...? or what should I do~

Also, Day 13, but eyes still closed. Eyes had a pus and a bit crusty, so I have been wiping with warm water and it looks WAY better now.

Should I visit the vet?

Sorry for the long post, and thanks for your help in advance :)

How much and how often are you feeding her?

As she's now 13 days old, I feed her every 3 hours.

I usually let her eat until she doesn't want anymore. And that would be usually 2-3ml.

But every time is different. This time she eats a little, but the next time she eats a lot.

No problem in the past 13 days, but it started crying today...

I could be doing the math wrong, but I don't think she's getting enough to eat each day by a fair amount.  Can you post a photo?  Are you feeding her through the night as well?  Do you know how much she weighs?
