I have been posting under cat health about my sweet KiKi's recent health issues and not eating.  She just ate a little bit of her Iams dry food (that's what she has eaten since the animal shelter a year and a half ago).....As I said, she did just eat a little bit of her food but very little, so I thought about trying to switch to another food to see if that would help. Any suggestions on what I should try?

Are you looking to switch to dry food or canned food?

Canned foods are more appealing to most cats. Fancy Feast Classic / Gourmet is an inexpensive one to start with and many cats like it. Chain pet stores sell a variety of good quality canned foods these days. If you have an independent pet store in the area, look there for higher quality brands.

Orijen is an often recommended dry food but I think it's on the more expensive side and found only at independent pet stores. I personally like the Nature's Variety Instinct brand. Petco sells this brand but the selection may be limited at some stores.

I was thinking of trying a wet food. Thank you for the suggestions!

My kitten refused food for almost a week.  At her rescue's recommendation I finally gave her Fancy Feast Salmon and Shrimp which she devoured.  It not the healthiest but it got us through the crisis, and now I'm slowly mixing in a healthier food to switch over.  Sometimes you need something very appealing when the cats doesn't feel well and the priority is getting some food and liquid in.
