My family has always loved animals. But we have become overwhelmed to say the least. Our cat became pregnant before we knew she was in heat. Next thing that we know she has had babies that we can not keep. A few are healthy but a couple are very sick. We do not have the money to take them to the vet unfortunately. It is impossible to keep them all in our house so they sleep outside. It is cold out there at night in California. These kittens, they need to find someone who has the money to take them to receive proper medical care and find their homes. We don't know what to do for them. Finding their owners online is our last hope. They are sweet kittens full of personality. We have 4 gray and white short hair kittens, and two grayish-black long hair kittens. It has come to the awful point where we can no longer afford to buy them food. All I ask is for someone to help us give them good stable forever homes because I love them. Will you be their rescuer?
Please PM me for contact details.

Where are you in California? I can help look up resources fior you. The mama cat needs to be spayed or at least strictly kept inside until she can be spayed, or else she will have another litter again in 2 or 3 months. The sick kittens need attention and to be kept warm for the time being. Is there a humane society in your area? Or a cat rescue group?

Also, please don't run an online ad. If you advertise in the paper, please do not say Free to a good home. Sickos who use kittens as bait look for free kitten ads.

Ginny is absolutely correct.  I teach at night and overheard one of my students who has a pet boa constrictor tell another student he watches craigslist for free kittens.

Needless to say, that student is no longer in my class.  I reported him to the provost and also to local news stations.

Take them to the vet and tell them you do not have the money,
I have tried.Unfortunately the only option they gave was to put them to sleep. I just do not have the heart for that.

I'm in Ceres CA. Stanislaus county. I was also worried about the free ads because I know how that goes as well. That's why I thought that posting on here would be my best bet. Our mama cat is being kept inside as well. If you can find any information, it would be much appreciated.

You've separated the mom cat from the kittens? How old are they?

I will certainly try to help you.  Meanwhile I hope one of the advisors who run cat rescues can give you advice as well.  I will let you know what I find!

Here's one:

  1. Animals at Risk Care Sanctuary

    Humane Society·

    ·(209) 527-2272
This is in Modesto which is not far from Ceres.  I'll keep on looking.

There may be some kind members here who can help you out who live near you as well, so I'm glad you posted here!  Also, there are low-cost spay/neuter clinics that are part of the Humane Societies to get your mama kitty spayed.  Call around for the best prices.  Here's one:

A few questions, first of all how old are the kittens?

What are they sick with/symptoms?

Is it possible for them to be driven 1 1/2 hours away?

They are about 3 months old. They have a stuffed/runny nose and sometimes sneezing fits. This came along with some goopy eyes. If it would help them then I would drive that far, yes.

So they have herpesvirus, the stuffy nose causes them not to eat enough basically.

Antibiotics will help them get through this, it will free up their immature immune system so it is able to focus on getting rid of the virus part rather than allowing the virus to hang on because their systems are occupied with warding off bacteria.

Are they very tame? I'm assuming they are loaded with fleas too, which causes anemia.

Are their gums white or close to it?

Are any of their eyes stuck shut from the goop and have any swelling?

This makes much more sense. It is near you. They rescue both dogs and cats.

No their eyes are open and healthy as far as I know. It's just in the morning sometimes when they do have goopy eyes. They all seem to have a ravenous appetite actually. Like they can't eat enough. They are very tame. I am not sure how many fleas they have but I know they do have them. Their gums are pink from what I can see

Are you able to contact Wags and Whiskers and let us know how it goes?  We can continue to brainstorm if they can't help!

Does anyone have an update on Sammy's mama cat & the kittens? The Central Valley is an area that is not particularly cat friendly and options can be few. I once rescued a kitten from the side of the highway near San Andreas and we tried all the nearby rescues and in the end, wound up going to the WalMart in Martell and buying food, crate & toys and bringing the kitten home to the Eastern side. That was about 11 years ago and I hope and pray that resources for cats has improved since then.
