Hi! What are you doing?

I wanted to create a thread where we can post simple, short messages saying what we are doing or feeling, any time of the day (or night), whenever we feel like... Kind of our own version of Twitter or Facebook .

So, What are you Doing?

Watching news, reading/sending emails, having coffee. A nice easy start to the new year.

Today is "back to reality". My husband left for work after being home since the 23rd. He did work a few of those days, but from home. It's time to start digging in and doing all the regular chores that I haven't done in a few weeks and to start taking down all the Christmas decorations.

But first, just a little bit of a catch up on here. :lol3:

Snow coming tomorrow morning and I've got a lot to do before it. :( I've got to make a list and see what's most important.

I should be connecting my new keyboard.

My co-worker threw a hissy fit yesterday because I type too fast and too loudly. I've already cut my fingernails way back and I'm typing on my finger pads, not my nails, but the keyboard is still making too much noise to satisfy him. My boss told me to buy a new (whisper quiet) keyboard, so I bought it last night and brought it in this morning. I'll have to connect it before my co-worker gets in this morning. (He's the kind of guy who likes to fixate on stuff....one of our admin assistants always wore heels and he threw a hissy fit over the noise from her heels. I wear boots in the winter and he's already complained about the noise from my boots.) His latest fit is over my typing on my keyboard.

What happened was he was playing his music way too loudly and I was trying to review a plan. I can handle the music, but when he starts singing (He thinks he can sing! He can't! OMG, it's awful!), I had to ask him to stop. And then when my other co-worker agreed with me and told him to knock it off because he couldn't take it anymore, he said, "Well, I can't take Pam's
typing anymore! So there!"  Cranked his music sky-high and it went downhill from there.

He was already told to wear headphones; that way, he can listen to his music loud and he doesn't have to hear my typing. He doesn't think he should have to wear headphones because I don't know how to type.

How do you type, anyway?
 I only know one way.

The joys of working in cubes when everybody can hear everything.
Especially when, evidently, we can easily turn into seven-year-olds.

So I'm going to have to connect the new keyboard; hopefully it really will be whisper-quiet! (And then he can start complaining about something else.)

I've got a list a mile long--two bookkeeping jobs to do; getting a bunch of New Year cards ready to mail out; grocery shopping; proofreading a translation project; making medical appointments for my mom; wrapping and mailing a couple of birthday gifts; cleaning house for dinner guests tomorrow; bill paying....I think that's it.  Fortunately I have today and tomorrow to get everything done.  Guess I'd better get off of TCS and get started.

I'm sitting here being lazy with my coffee right now. There's plenty to do around here though. We've got a fairly significant snowstorm coming and will probably be snowbound all afternoon and evening.

Abby's taking a supplement that she can't eat for an hour afterwards, so I am killing time until I can give her food again.

There is a house two down from me that was foreclosed on years ago and has been abandoned ever since. There are a ton of card there right now, so I'm googling to see if I can figure out what is going on.

Several members were really helpful when I was trying to organize my black hole of a kitchen cabinet last year: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/317823/is-this-a-reasonable-price-for-custom-shelves

Today and this weekend I'm working on organizing my linen closet and hallway closet.  @Winchester

Before I moved in:

The linen closet now:

I did buy an Elfa door rack and baskets last weekend and moved a few things off the shelves:

I'm going to take everything off the shelves and somehow organize them in a better way.

The hallway closet isn't bad. It looked much worse before I tossed old stuff out a few weeks ago. The drawer unit holds plastic bags, batteries, lightbulbs, Command hooks, instruction booklets, dusting wipes and miscellnaeous stuff.:

I have some cleaning brushes and the Swiffer tucked in this corner.

I was thinking of replacing the over-the-door hook with another Elfa door rack and baskets. The tote bags can be put onto hooks that I'll put on the back wall of the closet.

The "after" pictures @Winchester

The linen closet definitely doesn't look like one of those professionally organized closet pictures you see in magazines. I'm not sure how to give it a "Martha Stewart"-look. I don't want decorative bins to hold the towels and blankets and sheets.

The rest of the closet doesn't look any different yet. The tote bags are sitting on top of the drawer unit until I can get adhesive hooks to put on the back wall.

Thanks! I'm a a neat freak and need things to be organized
It drives me nuts when I go to my parents' house because they're bascially hoarders
Nex thing to organize is my desk again. It stays clutter-free for a few days and then stuff just piles back on top

When you're done with your house you can gladly come over and help me with my closets.  Or maybe i could win an award for how much stuff you can fit in one closet.

Right now I'm avoiding going to bed but I better get some sleep soon or I'll pay for it tomorrow. Even Carleton knows it's my bedtime or should I say our bedtime, lol.

So unmotivated today, but so much to do. I need to take advantage of being snowed in and get stuff done. First though, a little more catching up here with my coffee.
