I went to a a training semniar yesterday, the first one I've been allowed to go to in years
. Well I did go to one last year but only because I sent my then supervisor and manager and email explaining why I wnated to go (they were already sending other people) and they both decided to send me as "reward for doing well" that year. I felt like a 3 year old who gets a cookie as a reward for putting toys away or something
Anywys, I got in for free because I was asked to volunteer at the registration desk. I ran into people whom I previousy worked with and got updated with them
One even mentioned that she now works with other peple who previously worked with us. The industry in our area is pretty small and you always run into people you know who now work with other people you know. I also spotted someone from years ago at a different company. I immediatley noticed her name among the name tags. I don't think she recognized me which is just as well since we had a falling out when we had worked together. I spent the entire day trying to avoid her as much as possible. The seminar was fun but I wish they had more on the specific thing I do and vendors specializing in that. I'll mention it to the organization president who just happens to work in the same company as I do. I picked up a lot of the freebie swag and brochures, including a pen with a mop top that looks exactly like someone I work with if it only had brown hair instead  of bright blue

Seminars, when you are involved in a small field of work can be a lot of fun.. They are like social party with some education added to it. I used to always go to yearly seminars, or semi-yearly meetings. A lot of connections can be made there. You can catch up with people you lost touch with. It is a lot of fun.

My field of work became so large, that I felt alone at the last couple of ones I went to. But in the beginning, it was a lot of fun.

Glad you had an opportunity to go.. the registration desk is where you meet so many people. I did that once.

You deserve some time off of work-- work related, but fun!

I needed a day of fun after having a day of shcoking news. I'll probably post in another thread about that.

There's a national meeting but I've never been to that. Way back in the early days of the company, the then department head offered to send me but at the time I had a diabetic cat and couldn't go anywhere. I was still living at home at the time and no one would take over the insulin injections and blood glucose testing. Now I have two raw fed cats one of which demands to be fed 4 times a day

I GOT MY LAUNDRY DONE!   That's a bigger deal for me than for some, as it involves loading the basket on the walker and trotting half a block to the laundry room, but my energy levels and the weather lined up perfectly and all my clothes are clean once more!  ALSO...I talked with my elder son last night!  I've been missing him, but he answered and told me he is in Switzerland, and will call me on Sunday, AND will send a postcard!

National Meetings can be fun. I went to 2 of them, in my lifetime. One was for doctors and ultrasound techs, and the other was just the techs.

How in heaven's name do you manage to feed a cat 4 times a day, if you work? sorry for prying, but that sound kind of impossible to me..

lets see, breakfast, when you come home, and then before bed, but where does the other feeding come in??

sorry about prying.. just being noisy!! But I do not know how you manage it!  and with raw!! I can understand with canned, but raw?

@Mamanyt1953   Hooray for clean clothes!!!    Sounds like your son is a world traveler! and explorer.. very interesting.. Good for him!

Yep, he is a free-lance cloud architect, AND works for Dell Computers, and his fiance is a global something or other at Microsoft.  They travel constantly, all over the place.  Last week was Paris.  They have a condo in St. Petersburg, FL, and in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and split their downtime between the two.

LOL, the phone calls are my lifeline with him.  I haven't actually seen him in over 10 years now.  He's hoping to plan a visit in a couple of months, but who knows?  Send good thought for that!

I wish the national meeting would be here but it's always held in other cities

Breakfast, dinner, post-dinner snack for Leroy, and bedtime snack. Breakfast and dinner are the exact same thing. Leroy doesn't care for a post-breakfast snack but insists on a post-dinner snack

Been waiting on my meds for several days.  The owner of the pharmacy just delivered them himself to apologize for the wait...there were several employee emergencies, and I believe that, because they have been SO good for the six years I've used them.  He refused to take a tip, and even discounted the prescriptions!  He is SUCH a sweetie and thanked me for always calling a week before I actually run out.  Just a really nice encounter with a really good person!

I finally decided to not listen to my parents and seek help. I joined an online support group and will be starting therapy in June/July.
Good for you, hope the group is helpful and supportive.  I wish you the best of luck. Please keep in touch.

I got a box of books from a dear friend, with a birthday care enclosed.  The card contained a cash gift, and it was JUST the amount I needed to get my daybed for my front room!  I had some saved, but thought I'd have to wait another month!  SO EXCITED!  So...tomorrow, the actual birthday, I shall begin reading.  The bed will wait until our maintenance man can take me to the store.  He has a pick-up truck, and a willing heart.

My husband was able to repair an expensive piece of electronics for $60 instead of buying a new one! :woo:
