It is, indeed.  And when embedded in a pussycat skull, it becomes a veritable factory.

OK...now for the Silly News of the Week.  I have spirit kitties.  Two of them.  I have managed to attach them to two chair cushions, you know, the kind you tie on a kitchen chair?  I  did this because I wanted to know they were somewhere they were recognized and cared for when I moved.  They came with me from the other apartment.  I have been worrying about what would happen when I'm no long around.  It was breaking my heart to think of someone going through my things, throwing the cushions in a dumpster and my two poor ghost kitties ending up in a dump somewhere, confused and stuck.  Oh, go ahead and laugh...if you haven't been touched directly by such things, there's no WAY for you to understand.  ANYHOW, the wonderful friend who lent me the money to move on told me today to leave instructions for the cushions to be packed and shipped to her, and that she would be glad to have them, AND pass them along someday to a sympathetic caretaker.  Suzanne (you all remember my friend here) has promised to make sure that the cushions are sent to Nat. BIG load off of my mind.  I'm in fair health, but we never know what is going to happen.  I do like to have a plan.
ok, I bite: what are spirit kitties?

that rainbow salad is made by green giant...

https://www.hy-vee.com/grocery/PD3837211/Green-Giant-Fresh-Broccoli-Slaw   broccoli slaw is one-they have one called rainbow mix. I prefer it full of red cabbage...

Mammy I am glad you have details set aside. I always worry about what will happen to honeybee and Pumps if something happens to both of us. I know family would swoop in and get them but they don't stick to a med schedule like I do and I know they would be petrified living in a house with dogs and kids screaming and strangers coming and going..I only hope I can figure out someone on my facebook family who will step up and help me if something happens. I just hate to even ask people to even think about this..been too many deaths in my work lately as wed we lost a grand daughter of a coworker...not even 3 yrs old. I have a gofund me post on my wall to help pay for funeral costs..very young family.   Been a very sad week. I can't even imagine...she passed away  in her sleep between mom and dad..I can't imagine....this week's going to be tough to go to the services...we are used to the older folks passing on..but a baby?!!! NO!!!!

that rainbow salad is made by green giant...   why would you buy and eat something prepackaged where you don't know anything about the person who cut it up and packaged it? And who knows how old that lettuce etc is and with how many chemicals it was treated to keep it from turning brown? It may have been GROWN organically but by the time you get it it's a long way from there. Is it too much trouble to cut it up yourself? It will last longer than what you buy already cut up too. There is too much waste of food anyway as most people don't have a compost heap where they can recycle what does not get eaten.

because I DONT have TIME to chop and clean and all the BS that goes with it. there's no lettuce in it. it's all veggies..and convenient. I still chop up broccoli florets into it and red peppers but the salad works wonders..i get my daily veggies and voila...I work 7 days a week. I don't have time for food prep. It's only $2 a bag and gives us 4 servings...salad dressing as my fat source and croutons and makes a delish dinner for me..i stuff my face all day long at work..I need to eat lighter at night so I sleep better...I just like it.

Too each his own. I have found that with a really good sharp knife I can cut up veggies awfully fast. Also, I wash all my veggies when I first bring them into the house, be they bought or from the garden. Somehow I have always found the time to prepare meals for my then family of four ravenous teenagers although I was working full time. When they got old enough they were required to help out with the housework, boys and girls alike, but the cooking was mostly done by me and I could not afford to buy convenience food. Frozen veggies out of season yes, but otherwise it all was from scratch. I guess it's all where your priorities are.

Have you ever seen the mini wiffle balls that are sold as some kind of kids golf ball? These are amazing cat toys. We bought some for the garage so that we could have a target of where to park. There are lots of extras and Ruby has been absolutely delighted with them. She chases them around all over. They are the only balls I've seen other than ping pong balls that work well both on carpet and vinyl floors (and move between the two with ease).
Really? Hmm...
I'll have to look into that.

I'll get back here and do a real post later, but I don't want to forget this.  In many states, you can "fire" a collection agency.  It requires (most often, but not always, google it) a registered letter sent to the collection agency stating that you will not do business with them and to return the account to the original account holder.  If your trip to the hospital does not bear fruit, you at least have this info for back-up.
I'm in South Carolina. Any information on this would be helpful. In any case, I can't get up there until Tuesday.

Honeybee loves those plastic hollow balls with the bells in them..she and pumps likes to smash them all around the house at 1am

For constipation=there's this premade salad called rainbow salad it's chopped cauliflower, broccoli and carrots and cabbage..red n green. I eat a cup or two a day=no problemos and I am on things that slow down the tract....and I use oil based dressing on it=like a marinated cole slaw=greek dressing is the best...and let it marinate for an hour..add fresh spinach=eat away!!! That's my salad! I have not had to use any helpers in MONTHS since I have been eating this stuff at least every other day...

I am attempting to locate new work boots=I found a foot doctor to go to and hope they take our crappy insurance..the pain is too much..I need a custom made insole for my feet. Can't wait. I can walk barefoot, jog and run and no problems..the second I put shoes on!! FORGET IT. So that will be taken care of. I bought a pair of boots one size up...I took the insole out and it's not squishing my babytoe but not soft to walk on..why do shoe companies cut corners with crappy inserts? and the drug store ones don't cover the entire foot area so I feel the line everytime I step..the joys of flat fat feet!

No Honeybee on my chest last night...hmm...she slept in her made up tent next to the couch in pumpkins green fuzzy cat bed she used to sleep in..honeybee takes over all her beds?!!
That salad sounds delicious.

You know, eventually those spirit kitties are going to have to pass on. They always do.

My son has a t-shirt that says "I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables". What's peculiar about this is that he actually LIKES veggies! (And humans are omnivores i.e. they can eat and digest both meat and plants, if we were strictly carnivores like cats we would have larger canine teeth and unable to digest plant fiber and proteins

Arg!  I only have one work shirt for now.  I've put in an order for a few more.  Anyway, I washed it last night and I was so tired, I forgot to put it in my dresser and left it folded on the couch.  So Connor decided that - in the entire house - he had to sleep on my shirt.  Not in the chairs, not on the bed, not on the rest of the couch or the window seat - on my shirt.  So now it's covered in cat hair.  I'm gonna have to stop and grab a lint roller on my way to work.  I'm sure dollar general carries them - wal*mart is on the other side of town.  And hopefully that will get all the cat hair off.  *bangs head against the wall*

It would be easier if I could find the lint roller we already have.  But of course I can't.
If you're in a hurry and you have leftover packing tape, you can just make a roll with the packing tape (sticky side out) and it works just as well as a lint roller.

In situations like this I like to say--I don't think God  was responsible for sending her to Heaven. My heart goes out to all of you.

I wish I could loan you RB for a couple days. He loves  working with knives, and he'd be more than happy to chop it up for you.

Well, my head is killing me, and it's all Princess's fault. I was sleeping in bed, minding my own business, when she jumped down from the top bunk (I have a cat bed set up there)--and landed on my right temple.
Last year Ra did the same thing to my head. I'm going to have to start closing my door when I sleep, but I don't like to do that because they were born in there. I took some Advil. Hopefully that helps.

My mom is working at the nursing home here tonight.  Last week was supposed to be her last day because they moved, but they hadn't taken her off the payroll yet and they called her and begged her to work cuz a bunch of people called in.

And she brought my sister and DD was hanging out at the nursing home.  She asked me to pick her up cuz she'd rather hang out here than there.  Can't blame her.  So, she's here crying because she doesn't want to go back and I'm crying because I have to let me mom take her.  The piece of crap apparently keeps yelling at her and accusing her of losing his drugs.  This is beyond ridiculous.  Child services refuses to do anything.  I don't work tomorrow.  I'm going to try to get ahold of a lawyer who will give me a free consultation and maybe I can find a reporter looking for a story.  Tell them how child services is ignoring a girl who desperately needs help.  I don't know what else to do!

I just e-mailed the local news network:

I don't know how to go about this, but I feel like there's something the public should know about.  My younger sister is 16 and pregnant.  She lives in XXXXXXX, IA.  Her father is abusing her at home.  Physically abusing her.  The other day he was yelling at her and accusing her of losing his drugs.  Child services knows all about this but they aren't doing anything.  They refuse to remove her from the home or help her in any way.  The police say they can't arrest him until child services gives them the go ahead even though he bashed her head into the wall.  Why won't child services do anything?  Is it because she's 16 and not worth their time (in their opinion)?  The girl's name is XXXXXXXXX.  The abusive man is XXXXXXX.  He's been abusive for at least 24 years - the first time he hit me and the first time I saw him hit my mother was 24 years ago.  This is a pattern of behavior and it clearly is not going to change.  Something needs to be done but child services is turning a blind eye.

I suppose there's a chance that this could make it worse, but not much of one.  And, frankly, I don't see what else you can do at this point.  Just be very careful about throwing your sister's name around.  Until she is removed from the home, she remains extremely vulnerable, and the reaction of an abuser to being publicly called out for his abuse is likely to be worse abuse.  We don't want him punching DD in the belly, or simply killing her outright.

Edit -- I just showed this to Roger, who wants to know who is the father of DD's baby?  Is it Marty's child?  Can DD get child support from the father if it isn't Marty?  And does this pregnancy give DD a chance at emancipation???  Ask the lawyer when you get the free consultation.   If DD is uncertain, this is what paternity tests are for.

No, it's not his.  That would be disgusting.  Though him knocking her around is pretty disgusting, too.  Her boyfriend is the father.  He's 17 and they're still together.  They're both kids.  Apparently, Iowa doesn't have any kind of emancipation laws but I will ask.  I just have to find one who will talk to me and I don't even know where to start.  I mean, do I google Iowa lawyers and just start calling until one of them will talk to me?

Call Legal Aid or check with your local Bar Association or closest Law School for referrals.   You could also try just googling "attorney free consultation" & your zip code.   Or if there is a shelter for victims of domestic violence nearby, they might also be a great source of referrals.    Your sister might even find some sanctuary there.

I'm in Missouri and she's in Iowa.  So I'll have to find someone who can help with Iowa law.  If she was still here in Missouri, she could leave.  That's what I did.  I went to my grandma's and since I was being supported, my mom couldn't make me go back.  So I guess I'll google Iowa legal aid.  Right now I just feel so emotionally exhausted.  It's gotten to be too much for me.  I'm at the end of my rope because it seems like there's nothing I can do and no way to help her.  It's so tiring to have your hands tied.

Try contacting some domestic abuse shelters. Sometimes they have an underground kind of thing going on, or know of a lawyer who can light a fire under CPS. It's such a difficult situation :sigh:.

Words of Caution--try to keep the names under the rug, if you can. I know you what to draw as much attention as possible (and I think you should), but some abusers react to be being called out by escalating the abuse--sometimes fatally.

Now hold on--paternity tests can be expensive.

Here's an idea--have you tried talking to his  parents about your sister's situation? That is  their grandbaby, after all, and they might be inclined to help as much as possible. (Or, they might be rooting for her to die. It really depends on the type of people they are.) Anyway, the best way to find a good lawyer that will give you a free consultation is to go to the local courthouse (the one closest to where your sister lives, since you're in another state) and ask the clerk. The clerks who work in the courthouse knows everything about all the lawyers, judges, bailiffs, and even grand jury members. They'll probably be more than happy to tell you anything you need to know (just in case, arrive with donuts or something similar; clerks don't get much in the way of treats).

I've edited out all references to the names.
