Apparently, I have nothing on my mind at all today.  SIGH...

Hekitty just knocked over the Temptations cannister AGAIN!  She's only had 3 today, so I better go get her fix before she tears up the living room!

Pain meds will definitely stop up someone. I take Tyn. #4 for arthritis and when I get stopped up I take a stool softner or just eat some peas or beans. I also have IBS-D and the codeine helps to make me feel normal.
I'll pass it on.

@Tallyollyopia

I have issues also.. diagnosed with microscopic colitis with a biopsy, but I tend towards constipation also..

I always have Miralax in the house. I use it when needed.. a couple days of that and a stool softener usually helps.. but you can also try Benefiber, in addition to the Miralax..

I was told to take daily stool softeners, daily Benefiber, with the Miralax used as a last resort.. I found that to be a bit much, so I usually rely on the stool softeners and the miralax.. it helps within a day or 2..
Where can I find it?

My mother always forced me to eat things I didn't like.  I love broccoli and cauliflower - as long as it's raw.  I can't stand it cooked.  I would always nicely ask mom to leave some out for me to eat before she cooked it (she bought it fresh) but she never would.  And she would make me eat it.  And if I threw up because I didn't like it, she'd say I was forcing myself to and make me eat more.  I'll still eat them raw all day long but even the smell of them cooked makes me gag.  I could never figure out why she wouldn't leave me some raw.  It's not like it would have caused her any extra work.
Now, see, that makes no sense to me. It's not like either of us were refusing to eat vegetables. For my part, when I'm taking care of kids I don't force them to eat anything--but they have to try everything at least once.
I like those veggies raw, too. Especially with bleu cheese or ranch dressing to dip them in. I've decided to eat them all raw now instead of cooked. Only ones I like cooked are peas, corn, and green beans. Spinach can go either way.
Stop! You're making me drool....

Almost everything in the house is unpacked. There are just a few things that we're working to find a place for.

Well, today I got a letter from the hospital saying that my outstanding hospital bill is being sent to the collection agency. I don't think the letter takes into account that I've been paying off part of the bill, so I'm going up there Monday or Tuesday morning to do something, and hopefully keep it from going to collections. How could this happen?! I'm paying everything I can afford to pay to keep this from happening!

I'm really surprised by this.  Several times I have paid off hospital bills by just sending what I could each month.  As long as I paid something each month, they let it go until everything was paid off.  Maybe things have changed.

There might be another option for you.  My daughter's ex-boyfriend was once hospitalized and there was no way he could afford the bill.  The hospital ended up writing off the entire bill thru some program they had for low-income patients.  Again, maybe times have changed but I would check to see if they will adjust the bill downwards based on your income, your expenses, and your good payment history.

Going in person is a great idea.  Take a pay stub with you.  Good luck with this.

I applied for their low income program when I first heard about the bill--and I've heard nothing since. I don't understand what's going on.

I would definitely go to the billing department and ask to speak to someone in charge - very nicely, of course.

Two days of work has taught me that "hostess" is code for:  anything that needs doing.  I'm totally fine with this.  I like this job.  I'll get over the sore feet and legs eventually, I hope.  But I take people to their tables, fill butter cups, roll silverware, bus tables when it's needed, and clean bathrooms.  And some people are absolutely ridiculous.  Of course we have to roll silverware during the night.  Otherwise no one would be able to eat.  It can't be done in the kitchen - it wouldn't be sanitary.  There's food being cooked and carried all over the place.  So we have a little station for rolling silverware.  And some woman asked to be moved to a different table so she wouldn't have to watch people rolling silverware.  If it's that big of a deal, sit on the other side of the table!  I don't know if she was by herself or with someone but one of the waitresses was talking about it and I couldn't help but laugh.  I mean, no one was forcing her to watch.  When we took Grandma to dinner the other night, we were sitting at a table where we would have had a clear view of the silverware rolling, but I didn't even notice it.

And, big perk!  On days that I work, I get a 50% discount!  OMG the burger I had tonight was AMAZING.  *drools while remembering*  This job may exhaust me, but I really think I'm gonna like it.

I really hope so. Congrats on your new job! May you always be on
.

Man it is really cold here. The laptop I use (it was free and more than worth every penny), puts out a lot of heat and I have it on a stand to keep it from overheating like it would on any solid surface. Spot and Asia are curled up around the vents releasing the hot air. It's cute--but also sad. I hate cold weather!

I'll pass it on.

Where can I find it?

You can pick up these things, pretty much anywhere... in the laxative section... Walmart, grocery store, CVS, Target, etc....

Have you ever seen the mini wiffle balls that are sold as some kind of kids golf ball? These are amazing cat toys. We bought some for the garage so that we could have a target of where to park. There are lots of extras and Ruby has been absolutely delighted with them. She chases them around all over. They are the only balls I've seen other than ping pong balls that work well both on carpet and vinyl floors (and move between the two with ease).

I'll get back here and do a real post later, but I don't want to forget this.  In many states, you can "fire" a collection agency.  It requires (most often, but not always, google it) a registered letter sent to the collection agency stating that you will not do business with them and to return the account to the original account holder.  If your trip to the hospital does not bear fruit, you at least have this info for back-up.

Honeybee loves those plastic hollow balls with the bells in them..she and pumps likes to smash them all around the house at 1am

For constipation=there's this premade salad called rainbow salad it's chopped cauliflower, broccoli and carrots and cabbage..red n green. I eat a cup or two a day=no problemos and I am on things that slow down the tract....and I use oil based dressing on it=like a marinated cole slaw=greek dressing is the best...and let it marinate for an hour..add fresh spinach=eat away!!! That's my salad! I have not had to use any helpers in MONTHS since I have been eating this stuff at least every other day...

I am attempting to locate new work boots=I found a foot doctor to go to and hope they take our crappy insurance..the pain is too much..I need a custom made insole for my feet. Can't wait. I can walk barefoot, jog and run and no problems..the second I put shoes on!! FORGET IT. So that will be taken care of. I bought a pair of boots one size up...I took the insole out and it's not squishing my babytoe but not soft to walk on..why do shoe companies cut corners with crappy inserts? and the drug store ones don't cover the entire foot area so I feel the line everytime I step..the joys of flat fat feet!

No Honeybee on my chest last night...hmm...she slept in her made up tent next to the couch in pumpkins green fuzzy cat bed she used to sleep in..honeybee takes over all her beds?!!

oh it is. I gave up on spring mix going bad after a few days-the red lettuce wilts and gives a foul odor to the rest of the leaves..more ended up in my compost pile than in our salads...I like the chopped rainbow salad because it stays fresh for about 4 days before it gets sweaty yucky but you can open the bag and line it with a papertowel and you may get a few more days from it. I bet it would taste good in veggie soup..or some kind of broccoli soup...it's all chopped up and crunchy.

Does anyone remember Dangelo's making a veggie pocket back in the 1990s where they used broccoli and tons of veggies in this stirfry type of sandwich? I miss that yummy veggie alternative..they used some kind of sauce on it with ginger with a zing to it...it's been years since I ordered their veggie stuff..the last time I ordered it was only onions tomatoes olives peppers and nothing else..I don't know about you guys but when I make a kitchen sink sandwich- all of it goes into it! Or soup, or casserole...I love variety!

Glad you have your house unpacked New York! I bet you are finally feeling like all is well and sit and relax.

Mmmm rainbow salad. I make my own salad that I call "rainbow salad". It has spring mix or baby spinach (whichever they have at the store), carrots, celery, cucumber, granny-smith apple, red pepper, purple cabbage, and hard-boiled egg. I like to make my own lemon vinaigrette dressing to put on top of it. It's pretty yummy.

It is, indeed.  And when embedded in a pussycat skull, it becomes a veritable factory.

OK...now for the Silly News of the Week.  I have spirit kitties.  Two of them.  I have managed to attach them to two chair cushions, you know, the kind you tie on a kitchen chair?  I  did this because I wanted to know they were somewhere they were recognized and cared for when I moved.  They came with me from the other apartment.  I have been worrying about what would happen when I'm no long around.  It was breaking my heart to think of someone going through my things, throwing the cushions in a dumpster and my two poor ghost kitties ending up in a dump somewhere, confused and stuck.  Oh, go ahead and laugh...if you haven't been touched directly by such things, there's no WAY for you to understand.  ANYHOW, the wonderful friend who lent me the money to move on told me today to leave instructions for the cushions to be packed and shipped to her, and that she would be glad to have them, AND pass them along someday to a sympathetic caretaker.  Suzanne (you all remember my friend here) has promised to make sure that the cushions are sent to Nat. BIG load off of my mind.  I'm in fair health, but we never know what is going to happen.  I do like to have a plan.

That's a good idea. I was just humored by the image of him eating  vegetables--he's one of those people who think that humans should be carnivores.
My son has a t-shirt that says "I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables". What's peculiar about this is that he actually LIKES veggies! (And humans are omnivores i.e. they can eat and digest both meat and plants, if we were strictly carnivores like cats we would have larger canine teeth and unable to digest plant fiber and proteins

Arg!  I only have one work shirt for now.  I've put in an order for a few more.  Anyway, I washed it last night and I was so tired, I forgot to put it in my dresser and left it folded on the couch.  So Connor decided that - in the entire house - he had to sleep on my shirt.  Not in the chairs, not on the bed, not on the rest of the couch or the window seat - on my shirt.  So now it's covered in cat hair.  I'm gonna have to stop and grab a lint roller on my way to work.  I'm sure dollar general carries them - wal*mart is on the other side of town.  And hopefully that will get all the cat hair off.  *bangs head against the wall*

It would be easier if I could find the lint roller we already have.  But of course I can't.
