gym last night. went slow on ellit thingy and pay attention to how my foot moves. the different sneakers gave me more room inside. but I keep moving my ankles inward and toes outward. had to force my feet straight ahead. didn't have too much discomfort. stretched after. even my feet. bent them back and forth and side to side..really helped..maybe the muscle is cramped.

worked arms and abs and back. want to go back tonight but my feet are hurting already. got to review my diet and eliminate salt to see if that makes a difference. The best part last night was doing 6 reps at 120 lb for lat pull down..i started at 55 and just worked my way up. ab machine  30lbs. and rows only 85 but good enough.
Foxxycat, I am so sorry. I wanted to wish you good luck this morning with your foot! I'm glad you were able to continue on the elliptical, but if you think you might need to rest that foot, by all means, do so. Good work on the weights!

Norachan, well done!

lazy. didn't do anything last night other than stretches for my feet. Got some inserts..but when did they stop making full shoe inserts?! I couldn't find any whole shoe inserts...some sticky pad things for corns and my ouchie on my right foot..gonna try that and try to soak my feet. I got one toe looks like a hammer toe so got a wrap for that..now to get used to annoying things on my feet in my shoes..i can't stand anything rubbing or touching my feet. A coworker came by and told me to get the union involved and find a good foot doctor to make inserts. he said get them made out of metal..ouch!! doesn't metal hurt?! But I will work on this next week.

lunchtime today gonna try sitting in the seat and lifting my feet up and down with boots on. not the best way to move knees but I have to keep in motion otherwise my knees act up by aching. walking too painful with boots. Gonna put sneakers back on at lunchtime and try pacing a bit. What a pain in the butt. Jon says to me last night if I wasn't so heavy I wouldn't have foot problems..yeah duh no sheet buddy! At least I am going to the gym!!! Good grief people SUCK!

Me too! I had a ton of errands to run on Friday, then managed to give myself a chemical burn from spilled kerosene so didn't get anything active done.

Worked all day yesterday. Today I finished a bit earlier so I was able to do an hour of yoga after work.

I think that's unfair of Jon to blame your foot problems on your weight. Really skinny people get foot problems too! My mother weighs less than 100 lbs and she's had bunions for ages.

There are yoga exercises you can do to stop them forming. I found this, but there's lots of other videos on You Tube.

Foxxycat, do not let him tell you that. That's just rude. Yes, heavier people may have more in the way of foot problems, but I know many thin people who also have problems with their feet. You do what you have to do to get your feet taken care of. And give that man a good smack up alongside the head.

4 miles on the treadmill this morning.

next time he says something about my weight I'm going to fart on him!!!

lunchtime slow jog shoeless on a super thick matt. 20 minutes.
There you go!

Well, I only made it to 73,000 steps this past week, a far cry from my 100,000 steps of the week before. In fairness to me, though, I lost Tuesday because Rick brought me into work (no morning treadmill) and I couldn't walk in the wind and snow at lunch. Well, I could have, I suppose, but (being very whiny here) geeeez. And then Wednesday, I took a day off, but still got my 250 steps in for the 8 hours. So two days off can really mess me up.

Yesterday, in addition to my 4 miles on the treadmill, I got 9 out of 9 hours with 250 steps.

I think I have my Blaze step problem figured out, too. For now anyway. When I would get on the treadmill, I'd set the Blaze with the Treadmill app. The problem was that, not only was it not doing an accurate step count, it wasn't even tracking mileage properly. I'd do 3.5 miles on the treadmill, but only get credit for 2 miles and, maybe, 3,300 steps....on a good day. Well, on Saturday, I charged up my old Flex and wore that and my Blaze for my workout on Sunday morning. (Putting the Flex in my pocket gives a fairly accurate step count more so than wearing it on my arm.) And I didn't use the Treadmill app from the Blaze. And I was very careful how I swung my arms; I had been keeping my arms down and really swinging. I stopped doing that and started keeping my left (non-dominant) arm crooked at my side and doing a minimal swing. At that point, I figured I had nothing to lose if it didn't work out.

But it did! At 4 miles, I ended up with around 8,100 steps, more than I've gotten on the Blaze since I started using it. The Flex is still recording about 200 more steps, but that's minor, I guess. It's still not real accurate with the 250 steps an hour thing; there are times when I have to get 11 steps in, just to have the Blaze record one step....and that's horrible. But I figure that, as long as the Blaze is getting 250 steps, even if I'm walking a few more steps than that, well, it is what it is.

So I tried it again this morning. No Treadmill app. I just got on the treadmill and started walking, using a minimal arm swing. 3.5 miles on the treadmill and around 7,100 steps on the Blaze, about 7,300 on the Flex. Overall, I think my Flex is more accurate than the Blaze (but as a general thing, I don't think Fitbits are really all that accurate anyway; interestingly though, from what I've been reading on the Fitbit Community threads, most of them are under-reporting.). And then I go into my Fitbit Dashboard and manually record the Treadmill Activity, start time, duration, and the number of calories burned (all from the treadmill numbers). It records the number of steps on my Blaze and then also records the Treadmill Activity (with no steps, since it's already been recorded).

I'm not going to use the Walk App over lunch today and will see what happens. If I use the Walk App and sync it to the GPS on my phone, it will record the 3.15 miles of my normal walking route, but the steps aren't accurate by a long shot. I'm hoping that if I just walk, the steps will be more accurate and then I can manually log in with the Walk App for everything else.

The reason I bought the blasted Blaze is because I like the idea of keeping track of my heartbeat. When I had that stress test a few weeks ago, the people who worked with me on the stress test said that the Blaze does a pretty good job of keeping a fairly accurate record of heartbeat, even if sometimes the steps are off.

sounds complicated with that thingy! I just track how many minutes and if it says distance but I just figure an hour a day is my goal.

lunchtime going to try gentle jog with arm/squats...got my bigger boots today and its not as bad..I should just buy a womens 9W then it would fit even if my feet go back and forth-someone said to get thick insoles....it's the new year and I can get the money for my boots...I found 2 pairs online...got to call the doc..i hate dealing with strangers..hate it with a passion!

Gym tonight-free pizza
at least I will have something to eat before exercising and a few pieces for my lunch here...tonight gonna focus on legs since I do so much arm workouts..gonna see how it goes..Keep up the good work!

That's what we've got here.

My bus got stuck in the snow this afternoon. The driver just couldn't get enough momentum to get up a steep curve. He slid back down a few times, backed up and tried again and then eventually had to turn around and go back the way he came. He was nice enough to drop me off as close to my place as he could get to.

20 minutes walk, an hour of yoga and then about 20 minutes shoveling snow.

@Norachan, that bus driver was nice to get you as close to your house as he could.

No treadmill today because Rick brought me into work due to the snow. I'm not walking in this crap either; it's gusting around 25 mph....too windy for me.

But I'll be shoveling snow tonight.

Yesterday, Rick brought me into work, so I had no time for the treadmill in the morning. Nor was I going out in that mess during lunch. So the bottom line is that I only managed 5 miles yesterday (about 11,438 steps) and that was from walking around the inside of the building at work and then I walked around the house last night while Rick was bowling. I won't get on the treadmill once it's dark outside, if I'm alone in the house; treadmill is in the basement and I won't do it. I walked around the house to get some steps. I won't include that on my exercise log, though; I only count my treadmill and my work lunch walk in my log.

Since Rick brought me in this morning, too, I used some time to walk around the inside of the building, while I was the only one here. I have about 1.38 miles in this morning, a far cry from my normal 3.5, but it will have to do.

It was nice of him, wasn't it? There is only one bus that comes up this far and the driver spends all day, from 10 to 6, doing the route which takes two hours to complete. It's always the same drivers so they know their passengers pretty well and know where you like to get off without ringing the stop bell. I've seen them a few times when I've been out on long walks and they always slow down to see if I need a ride.

I started the morning yesterday with 20 minutes snow shoveling. It started snowing again just as I was done and after a few hours you couldn't even see the path I'd cleared.

I did an hour of yoga after that. Someone recommended a yoga channel on You Tube. It was pretty tough. Half way through the sessions my thighs were screaming for mercy.

Had to do another 20 minutes snow shoveling after that.

90 minutes walk and 30 minutes shoveling today.

That has happened to me, too. There have been times when Rick was away and I had to shovel the driveway out by myself. I would go out and do it in spurts because it's too large for me to get it all done at one time. And til I'd get to the bottom, the top looked like it needed to be dug out again. Frustrating. Rick gave up on the driveway this time. He said that hopefully the above-freezing temperatures this weekend will get rid of most of the snow and he wasn't dealing with it this time.

i did 5 miles on the treadmill this morning. I wanted to get my 10,000 steps in right at the beginning of the day and get them done. So 5 miles. I'm trying to shoot for another 100,000 step week. I need another 5,400 steps by tomorrow night (but am hoping to get them in yet today).

Foxxycat, how are you doing?

I am taking a break from exercise because my foot keeps bothering me. I am working long hours today but at lunchtime gonna try to do 20 min of something. I think I got the winter blues..I just don't have any energy to do anything. Jon did all the snow blowing and shoveling yesterday and finally did it in parts because it was so cold his fingers were cold. I told him he should have worn mittens..he says they were in the car...so why didn't you get them? He just shrugs his shoulders..so in a way I am glad he took a break. Normally he just plows through to get it done in one hour which is nuts. The snowblower makes a big difference. One year we had almost 4 feet of snow with 3 storms right after another..so the shovel would have been useless..and that was the year I couldn't see to get out even with my truck the banks were that high.

I hope to get to the gym mon and tues night. I think I either overdid it with all the miles on the treadmill or it was when I had the bright idea to do calf raises at the same time I was leg pressing..duh..I mean I was already pushing 70-100 lbs so what's the difference? THat's the only thing I can think of...I just was trying to cut down on time on dif machines. I normally do 25-40lb for that but didnt' think it was a big deal since I am built like a bull anyways..hahaha guess I learned my lesson.

plus why is it only one foot? It's my driving foot and that hurts to do the gas pedal=so I put my heel on the pedal and push down that way..god what the hell did I do to my foot?! I hate making appointments for doctors because they usually make you wait 3 weeks so why bother? Gahh.

My new sneakers came in and if I am barefoot they fit but socks too tight..wonder if it would be ok to barefoot the shoes? Anyone know if this is acceptable? I just think it's gross because I sweat like crazy and I wear merino wool year round...anyways nothing new..
