I'm trying to find a good quality, healthy food for my underweight kitten.  I've heard good things about both EVO 95% meat and Wellness.  I can't decipher all the additives and nutrition info well enough to tell which is better.  I'm looking for a commercially available canned kitten food in the US, if you have other suggestions.  Not interested in raw, homemade, specially ordered, etc.

I have never used EVO for wet food but when the company was bought out years ago I noticed the quality of their dry food went down hill drastically.  It would literally turn from kibble  to dust just putting it in the bowl.  My cats do sometimes get Wellness wet food and their dry food is Wellness Core Original formula.  I would try the Wellness first.

Perhaps someone else on this forum has used Evo wet food but I never tried it.

Neither are super great, they're both in the "okay" category, IMO.

The best canned foods are Tikicat, Weruva, Ziwipeak, and Feline Naturals.

Instinct, hounds and gatos, and Merrick LID, are okay too. To help your underweight kitten gain some weight mix some KMR into each wet food meal.

Unfortunately, out of all those, only Merrick is available at my local Petco!  Thanks for the tip about the KMR, I have some on hand.

EVO and Wellness canned are both fine, IMO. EVO tends to be a little high in fat which isn't a problem unless your cat is prone to pancreatitis.

Petco sells some pretty decent brands. Nature's Variety Instinct is one brand and I recommend that. The selection at Petco may be limited, though. Do you have any independent pet stores in the area? You'll likely find all the NV canned foods there. The NV web site has a store locator if you're not sure, plus you can sign up for coupons via email on the site.

Petco also sells Soulistic which is the inexpensive version of Weruva.

A high calorie supplement may help your underweight kitten. Pet stores sell various kinds. You can ask your vet to recommend one if you're not sure what to buy.
