When I went to the pet store to buy cat food, they were out of the small bag. They offered to sell me the large bag. I didn't want it because my cat eats wet food too and the large bag would last forever.
They asked me if I was totally out at home and I told them just about. The clerk then gave me probably a dozen or so sample packs of the kind of food I was wanting to buy. I was checked out. My cans of food and the samples were then put in a very cute cat shopping bag with handles. It brought smiles to my heart. Those little unexpected things are so sweet.

How sweet! I was short $4 the day before Thanksgiving at Walmart.. and I didn't know what I wanted to put back. This nice young girl in line behind me said here's $4 and happy thanksgiving. I was really blown away by her kindness. She made my day paying it forward. :)

Is it bad that I remember it was in the past week and I'm pretty sure it was at a store and was thanking someone profusely? I think it was similar to you, with someone giving me a deal on something.

I had hoped to see a lot of replies here. I do like the idea of paying it forward. I hope to get the chance to do that for someone. miagi's_mommy miagi's_mommy

On Sunday, New Year's Day, DH and I ran some errands and stopped in a small independently owned store.  (I like to support the privately owned shops.)  I had bought my daughter's birthday gift but needed a little something extra to go with it.  I couldn't resist a sweater that was a fantastic bargain for myself.
I was eyeing a pair of plush ear muffs for my daughter that were also discounted and the store owner put them in my bag, said it was her holiday gift to me!  I didn't even know her, had never been in the store before and told her I couldn't possibly accept but she insisted, said she was closing the store for 2 wks. for inventory and clearing out all the winter items.  Both DH and I declined her generous offer because it's not our style to walk away without paying but just the random act of kindness made us feel appreciative.  I will definitely go back and recommend her store to friends.

I had mentioned that I couldn't really afford to go to Florida this year and yesterday, my elderly neighbour who I help out with little things and making him the meatloaf he loves, offered me $500 and he would care for my cat if I wanted to go. I told him it was an incredibly generous offer but that I could not accept the gift.

artiemom artiemom Yes, I agree with you. The members here are extremely sympathetic and supportive. We are here for each other.

neely neely It was a generous offer the store owner made to give you the muffs. It is hard for me to know when and if to decline offers like this. Sometimes I think it is just blessings coming our way.

Y yosemite I think that is also true in the case of the neighbor who offered you money and cat sitting. It truly was a wonderful gesture that the neighbor wanted to help you have the trip you long for.

Does it count if it's a thank you for something you did for them? My husband cleared the snow for the woman across the street and she brought over two plates of food and dessert for us.

I was complainting to my SIL about my dark circles and undereye wrinkles and today I got a package with concealer and eye cream in it from her. :lol3: She's the makeup guru of the family.
