I had to have my sweet Muffy euthanized this morning. She was having difficulty in breathing and I thought she was having cardiac arrest. The vet took a chest x-ray and said she had fluid around her lungs. She said she could drain the lungs but the fluid would just come back. I could not see putting her through that. Muffy was 17 years old. I miss her so much already. The worst part will be at night when she used to curl up to me and we would sleep together. She was the last of my inside cats. I used to have 8 of them. I have 4 ferals that I feed. I won't be getting any more inside cats as It is too difficult for me to care for them. I'm barely able to care for myself.

Very sorry to read this, sorry for your loss and also that you are having troubles too.....it is just devastating to lose them, feels like you are going to die yourself the pain can get so bad, but we do get better with time albeit so slowly.

I pray that you are comforted and can take care of yourself, Bless you for taking care of these little creatures.....

I am so sorry for your loss :'( The same exact thing happened to my Ariel last Friday. It all happened so suddenly. I feel so much guilt. She was 15 yrs old and diabetic. I have given her insulin shots every 12 hrs for 3 yrs. She was at my side every moment of the day and night. She was breathing rapidly and my vet said the same thing to me about the fluid in her lungs. I miss her terribly. I loved and still love her so much! She was my best friend. I pray I will see her run to me at the rainbow bridge. :'(

My heart goes out to you, please know you've made a tremendous difference in the life of that little girl, and the others in your care, you will be blessed for your big heart and for not letting her suffer. 17 years is a wonderful long life, she shared your life's journey for a big part of yours. It takes a long time to accept that their presence is no longer in our homes, but you will forever feel her presence in your heart. The bond you have formed is spiritual, nothing, not even death, can take it from you. It is a direct line for love and comfort to be sent, a two way communication that ties your souls together until that road in the distant future crosses your path again. You will still feel her next to you at night, she will always be at your side now, and will visit you in your dreams. Open your heart to her love and let yourself take comfort in your precious memories of happier times. She would never want to bring you sorrow, she was loved and cherished, she had all she desired on this earth thanks to you. Celebrate having her in your life for so long, she was meant to be a part of it, it is something priceless that will always be a part of your past, be grateful for every second you shared.

You can still do much to share your love of felines. Help others, especially on sites like this who have inexperienced people who come here for help with their problems.Your experience is invaluable. I take comfort in helping others through these horrible times of loss, at least I hope I do, many are drowning and are grasping at straws to keep afloat. Communicating with someone who understands is a tremendous help. You can lend an ear, give comfort and advise, and take pleasure in seeing the posts of kittens and all the beautiful cats, each one so special and loved.

Please accept my sincere condolences, I know the pain of a broken heart, time is the only thing that truly helps. That and kind words from those who understand what you are feeling. Take care............ RIP sweet Muffy, you were an angel on earth and have now earned your wings. You will never be forgotten, you will be tenderly held in a loving heart for ever more. Sleep tight sweet Princess, you earned your peaceful rest!

Thanks everyone for your messages of condolence. I sure miss my little girl. It's so lonely here without her. Especially at night when we would snuggle up together.

My deepest condolences on your loss. I had to put down my Midnight in 1992, and 25 years later, it still hasn't left me. I know it is hard, but please try to focus on the fact that you gave your baby a warm, loving, safe home for all of her life. Focus on all of the great times you had with her. You did a very loving and caring thing for your Muffy, even though I know it may not feel like this currently. Your baby no longer suffers the strifes, pains, and agonies of this world; she is now happy, healthy, worry free and home. She has been given the greatest gift that you could ever bestow on her, and one day, you will see your baby face to face again. There is no shame in crying over Muffy; fact is, it's to be expected and is perfectly normal. I so wish I could be there with you right now to give you a caring, supportive hug, for I have been there so many times before. A piece of your heart passed along with her, but know that in its place, you have part of hers as well. God has welcomed your precious pussycat into His Arms, and she is as safe and free now more than ever. My heart and love be with you at this difficult time, Ms. Ellen.

Dennis

Rest in peace, beautiful companion. Muffy eternal.

I'm going through the same thing now and it's awful. Our cats were born in the same year. In any case, being loved is the greatest feeling in the world, and it's clear to me that your dear Muffy was loved by you tremendously. It's hard to feel this way, but maybe our babies live on because they become a part of us? I hope the pain eases and you are left with your happy memories of your time with Muffy.
