Little Ember, Amber and Indigo, are three orphaned litter mates that came into my life one rainy day a year and a half ago. It was the day when tragically their mother, a smallish feral Calico, was killed by a car.
Needless to say, they stole my heart from the moment I saw them. All wet, hungry and totally at the mercy of the elements in the world. Fortunately I had a towel in my car and bundled them up and hurried to my car to blast the heat to warm them up.
Ember looked very grateful for this kindness. After recovering from the trauma of being taken away from the only home they'd ever known, a sodden flower bed.
While Amber simply wanted to rest, Indigo (the only male) wanted to explore, ever curious about this strange new environment and alien being (me ).
Soon as they were warm and responding, it was off to the vet. Two had eye infection, so it was special eye cream and liquid antibiotics. They all had terrible fleas and were a bit anemic. With the vet's orders, it was time to head home to bottle feed, potty them and comb the fleas out of their delicate coats. Finally settled , they sleep restfully for the first time in my care.
(Their story will be continued soon...)
