I had a very sweet cat come up on Monday. She came on the house and upon seeing our indoor cat whined to go back out. I have been feeding her everyday during the day. I let her in to eat in the evening and show her around the house. Each night she stays in a bit longer but always whines and scratches at the door to get out. I let her out and she sits by the door and cries. Last night and the night before she came in for an hour or two and laid on the couch in my lap.

The one time I let her in unsupervised and closed the bathroom door, she jumped in the window and messed the blinds up.

Please help. I haven't introduced her to our cat or taken her to the vet because I don't want to freak her out. I don't want her outside though,we live in a busy neighborhood.... but she doesn't want to stay in.

I would trap her, get her vetted before you do anything.  You don't want her bringing in any nasties (like fleas/ear mites/etc) to your house cat.  From there you have a couple options.  TNR her and return her outside and continue feeding her - outdoors.  Or you could adopt her.

The pawing at the door is just because they're not used to being indoors - they'll beg and whine and jump and all that... then, most of the time, they'll surrender to the fact that they have it good.  Some cats are what we call "Rogues" they're friendly enough but need to wander and prefer the outdoors no matter what - that's ok too.  Usually though those are big dominant males.

If you do adopt and still want outdoor access for your cats:
