Hello everyone. I have four cats and one of them Bailey was diagnosed in October with small cell GI lymphoma :( he was sick for over six months losing weight but eating, weird symptoms of vomiting al his food, feet swelling, body itchy all the time etc. after tons of tests the biopsy determined my worst nightmare cancer :( the specialist he went to thought being 8 and healthy up until now that he would do well with oral chemo. So we started oral chlorambucil every three days, prednisalone at home daily and vitamin b injections at home once a week. He seemed to do better but last week had a decline in his eating. He used to always act starving even before the cancer and now he was at times not eating even with treats on top. I took him in they did bloodwork and funny enough his bloodwork looked better then the three weeks prior! And he has gained almost 2 lbs!! But just yesterday I saw him vomit once and again this am. And he did eat breakfast but didn't touch dinner and now is just chilling on the couch kinda looking sad . Has anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions? Advice? Help? :(

I'm so sorry to hear that. That's great that he gained weight, maybe he is digesting the food he eats better than before. Have you tried changing his diet so that he gets more nutrition per mouthful? That can help cats that are sick or have trouble digesting or with vomiting. I had a thin cat that went onto the special diet to avoid diarrhea and help her gain weight, it can also help with vomiting. It's for gastrointestinal problems but all of us at the shelter where I volunteer just all it EN food.

I hope he continues to do better! I'm sure the meds are just making him sick to his stomach.

Even thought the chlorambucil   may be helping the lymmphoma, some cats get a bad reaction to it and get nauseous, and even have to be taken off the drug.  I would discuss this with your vet and discuss giving him Cerenia to control the nausea, a wonder drug that is a neural block to nausea.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. My Abe was diagnosed with Small Cell Lymphoma about three weeks ago. He has responded pretty well to the prednisolone and the chlorambucil. Somedays he is hungrier than others. Then I started giving him Cerenia the anti-nausea medication BEFORE he gets his chemo pill and i believe it has improved his appetite. I also have to mix it up a little, sometimes a little kibble, sometimes a little wet...

Have you tried the anti-Nausea meds? Theres a few out there and I've heard a lot of success stories...

Hope things improve...

Good luck!

I have a cat on Chlorambucil also.  She gets it three times a week.  She is on Prednisolone also.  The Vet Oncologist recommended giving Cerenia (I give 1/2 of a 16 mg tablet") the evening prior to giving the Chlorambucil so it has carry over effect.  This works very well in preventing any nausea.
