Do you have regular outdoors feline "visitors" to your yard (that aren't ferals, TNR, etc.)? By this, I mean non-stray cats, just neighbors' kitties that hang around.

We've had a couple since we moved here 12 years ago.  George, who was my next-door-neighbor's cat. He used to stare at me through the first floor windows, and then run up so I could open the window and pet him. He would hang around me when I did gardening, letting my rub his belly. They would let him out around 11:00 AM. He had a pattern: straight up our driveway, always to the left, under the gate, and onto my deck. They moved last year, and I really miss him!

We now have a beautiful tortoiseshell girl--mostly black, but with a dime-sized orange (yes, I know it's really red, but I like orange!) spot above her left eye. I've been off work a lot lately, so I see her when she comes to our back door, which is really two French doors opening onto the deck, so I can really see her well. I make noises, and she comes up to the gap in the doors to look at me.  Today, she did the same thing, but then walked onto the main part of the deck, and sat on the stacked chairs, right up against the kitchen window, and watched me for a few minutes. She really is a beauty!

I also watch for an orange and cream tabby cat on the way to work, who sits in someone's bay window sunning himself. This is out of our neighborhood. I only see him up until about 1:00 PM on weekends, but I do see him mostly in the early morning on the way to work. He's been there over a year. DH confessed to me that he also looks for him! DH goes to work hours earlier than I, so I think he probably doesn't see him much. It always makes my day when I see him.

We have several "regulars" at any given time, probably because we don't chase them away, there are a couple of catnip plants, and my husband provides entertainment by constantly working in the garden or greenhouse in good weather and keeping the bird feeders full.

The funniest one is Gizmo, a tuxie that lives down the street. He's regularly boarded at the animal shelter, and one day he saw me outside our house and came running over meowing, "Hey, I know you!". Now he drops by on almost a daily basis and will sit on our front steps and meow till I come out and pet him. He seems to make his rounds, visiting any houses where he's made welcome.

There's a little black female that only comes on weekend mornings. I think her owners leave her out at night and sleep in on Saturdays and Sundays.

The cat that lives down the lane comes by every now and then. This is him, isn't he huge? His name is Miru Kun.

He's not very friendly. He mainly comes by to curse my cats through the fence.

I met him when I was out for a walk one day. He stood in the middle of the lane outside his house, fluffed himself up and hissed and growled at me. I turned around and went back the other way. I'm not going to mess with him.

Well at least you know they feed him well :tongue2:.

When I lived in town there were various cats who showed up now and then, never knew where they belonged. Now that I'm out in the country, any new cat is either wandering through, was dumped, or has moved in.

In the old house, when it was just Socks, I shared her with a neighbour and she was both our cat-she was a stray, chose both of us and spent time with us both, until I moved away and took her with me as I didn't have any cats that were fully mine.

My old neighbour has four other cats, and they liked my house too. I once woke up with her long haired black cat, sleeping on my bed. Apparently the people who moved in after us, also found their home invaded by cats, and they are okay with this too, and their cat is the same (uses the neighbour's outdoor cat shelter regularly, sometimes pops in to say hello). When I go by, I will stop and pet the cats if they are around, as well as the new house owner's ginger and white cat. On that street, there is also a black cat and tuxedo cat, who sometimes let me pet them, and a friendly elderly looking tortie too.

In my current house, there are a few regular visitors. Next door has a cat, it is mostly white with bits of tabby. Sometimes it sits on my shed roof, and peers in through the windows. On my street there are two black cats that live a bit further down. One sits in the same spot on a neighbour's lawn every morning and ignores me and the other is really friendly (and has beautiful light green eyes). I also sometimes see a tuxedo cat with a light blue collar, who looks a lot like mine other than slightly different markings (my cat has a pink nose).

There is a house a few streets away, with a friendly long haired black and white cat named Fluffy (her name is on her collar). She always approaches me for attention when I walk past to pick the kids up from school. There is a tabby and calico who live in that area too, I think the tabby might live in the same house, as its often in Fluffy's garden. The calico lives a few houses down, she is so pretty but is shy and wont approach me.

There are also a few stray/semi feral cats around. They are named after their colours. Big Black Kitty is a huge tomcat, he used to yowl in our garden at night, until I got all of my kittens spayed. He sometimes gets on with my Izzy, but Socks hisses at him. He wont approach me. If I stand by the open window and talk to him, or throw a few bits of dry food, he stays. If I open the back door and go outside, he runs away. Ginger Kitty (who is technically more of a cream), is sort of friendly, I can sometimes get him to move close to me if I have food, and he will let me pet him sometimes. Black and White Kitty will keep his distance, never petted him before but he will accept cat treats thrown towards him. They both get on with eachother, and also Socks. I once played with all three of them, with a wand toy, out of the window.
