Hello first of all sorry if my english is poor . So 5 month ago i bought a persian cat . In just one week the doctor spot panleukopenia in my cat.after 2weeks of treadment she became all right . After 2month last week i felt she is too hot and took her to the doctor and her body temperature was 40.3° . So doctor said something is seriously wrong then i took her to blood test and sonography and they spotted the swollen lymp nods in her belly and the blood test show us her wbc is so high (29.4) .the doctor said she have a heavy infection in her blood .so the doctor start to inject her 2 antibiotics(ceftriaxone and ampicillin) 2time a day for one week . After that we took her for blood test again and wbc goes higher to 42.5!!!!!!!!! The doctor said we should took her to another place for blood test to make sure the result was correct and we should continue the antibiotics shots and now for 3shots a day .im so desperate and confused ..whats wrong with my 6month old cat ? She is playing so much and eat and drink very well .this picture is her second blood test.

I am so sorry that you're going through this with your kitty.  I would go for the second opinion to make sure your vet is doing all that can be done.  Also, talk to the breeder from whom you adopted your kitty.

Welcome to the Cat Forum,

The blood count shows an elevated total white blood count due to a high number of neutrophils that show toxic changes.   I agree the appearances are of a severe infection, in my opinion, and the appearances are not  typical of leukaemia.  However I am a human physician in internal medicine, not a veterinarian who would know more than I do about feline responses to disease. There are some unusual features about the history and the enlarged lymph nodes on the abdominal ultrasonic test - and only a treating veterinarian can make the diagnosis.

After all the results are back, and if a diagnosis, suitable to you, has still not been made, then I suggest that you should ask for a second opinion by a physician specialising in feline internal medicine.

With all best wishes to you and your cat,

Please keep us posted as to what eventuates,

Geoffrey,

Don't be confused, just await the results and then await the Internist's opinion.

With best wishes to you both,

Geoffrey
