So I almost stepped in/on the first hairball one of my kittens ever coughed up. The thing is, I don't know which one vomited it.
Happy is 9 months old and Meeko is 7 months old. They are both Siberians and Happy has longer hair than Meeko.
I brush Happy regularly since he loves it but Meeko is a bit impatient when I do it. I did not notice them overgrooming.

Is there a "regular age" when a cat starts to have hairballs?

They play/fight roughly a lot, to the point where there is hair flying everywhere. My living room sometimes look like a far west movie with the fur rolling everywhere, no matter how often I pick it up, lol!
I know Meeko and Happy sometimes end up eating those fur balls (I think they chase them around like a prey...) could this have something to do with this hairball?

Ideally, they should never have a hairball.  I have 4 cats and only 1 is a hairball hacker.  What are you feeding them? I have found that a mostly canned food diet seems to help keep hairballs at bay.
