Hey all!

I currently own a 6 month old siberian kitten.  For now, based on research I have seen, I feed her 3 times a day.  The thing I am unsure on is what the best times to feed are  and  if consistency is important.  I  work  from home  twice a week  so am home  to feed her at  breakfast, lunch and dinner.  However, on days when I go in to work, I can only feed her in the monrning, when I get home from work (around 5:30) and lastly around 10  o clock pm.  Would it be better to be consistent and  feed her  in the morning, 5pm and 10pm, or should I instead feed her that way when I go in to work, and on days when I work from home feed her in the AM, 12pm, and 6pm?

Basically, is consistency important?

I'm not a cat nutritionist, and I'm sure one of our members who is far better versed in this will answer you shortly, but I do know this:  cats live and breathe by their routines and rituals.  There is NOTHING more important to a cat than consistency.  It doesn't have to be feedings at exact equidistant time periods, so long as you pick the times that best fit your schedule and stick to that pretty closely.  Should you feel you need to feed while you are at work, there are several good feeders with timers on the market.  Chewy.com carries several, and the prices are inline with what you would expect.

I agree with @Mamanyt1953 about consistency: our cats always seem out of sorts when there's a change to their feeding schedule. (I work from home so they have the luxury of being fed five square meals a day...) Personally, I think any schedule that offers a meal late at night is good: we feed a bedtime meal somewhere around 10PM and it's good for keeping the cats from waking us up early for a meal.
