Where my cats are
I'm a little under 400 miles away from there.  My parents and 2 of my grandparents were born in the same city.  My Dad still lives nearby and my Grandparents lived in the city until Gram went to a nursing home in a nearby town and after she passed away Grandpa sold the house and moved to an assisted living facility about half an hour away.  So not too far; but not in the same town itself anymore.

I'm betting my Grandparents were born at home but I don't remember where my parents were born.  I do know my mother was born in a hospital; but they have 3 in that town so it could have been the same one; but I don't know for sure.  The house my Grandfather sold was the one she came home to.

Not that far, but I got here in a very roundabout way!  I was born in Savannah, GA, moved to Anchorage, AK when I was just weeks old, them moved to Florida where I did MOST of my growing up, bounced around the southeast through two marriages (25 moves in 20 years), then moved here to NC in 2007.
Wow, that's a lot of moves.

I was born more than halfway across the country, in a military hospital in Gary, Indiana.  I was raised mostly in southern CA, though, which is about 6 hours, 375 miles, away from where I live now.

I grew up in Brandywine, MD. That's about 8 miles from while I live now. I once read somewhere that the smarter you are the further you live from where you were born. That says a lot for me. DUH!

I was born halfway across the country, too. I was born in New Orleans and now live hear Chicago.

I grew up in Arlington, VA, and when I go back there, I am soooo glad I don't live there anymore.
What's wrong with Arlington? I lived there for about 9 months about 30 years ago. I would never go back there to live. It's just too many people and too much traffic. I just don't like Virginia.

I always remember Dylan's quote (born in Hibbings, MN) that he was born a long way from where he was supposed to be.

I love Virginia, but Arlington has become too urban. It was just an ordinary suburb of DC when I was growing up, but now is high rises, sirens all the time, and no stores you would want to shop in. If I had to live in the area, I would go to McLean or Fairfax.

We live a little over 3,992 miles / 6434 kilometers from my city of birth, on the other side of the Atlantic.
