My kitty (a beautiful gray short hair with beautiful clear green eyes) had a lump removed from her breast back in the summer. The vet was very happy and so was I when he said they got it all and it had not gotten into her lymph nodes. She has been acting fine until I found another lump on the back of her neck and took her for a check up. The vet found a lump under her left side of her neck and did a needle biopsy. I was so shocked when he said the cancer was in her lymph nodes. They referred me to a specialist who did xray and then an ultrasound on a tumor they found. The vet said it was metastasised to her liver and spleen, I don't understand why she is not wanting to eat today when yesterday she was eating she has been purring very loud and constant all morning. I am waiting on the vet to call about her blood work. I don't want to let her go but I don't want her to hurt. The vet gave me pain and nausea meds cause she said sometimes they feel nausea and won't eat. I gave her meds last night and today but only managed to get her to eat maybe a teaspoon of food the vet gave me for her. Is there anyone that has had this experience and how did your kitty progress.

I'm so sorry
Unfortunately, there have been too many cats here on TCS that have been diagnosed with lymphoma...don't know if this is what your kitty has or not, but it's a form of cancer, and can be located just about anywhere, typically in the abdomen though.   One person posted about their cat who had liver cancer, and from the time of diagnosis until the time she was put to sleep was less than a week
  Here's that thread:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/328746/liver-cancer

Sometimes, if there is no hope, the greatest gift you can give is to let them go, even as your heart if breaking.

I am so very sorry to see your sweet girl is suffering from cancer.

Last February my boy Simon was diagnosed with cancer, a tumor on his chin and I was told right there that he would be gone within a week.  We got to enjoy each other for 4 months.  Mind you it was a challenging time filled with lots of tears.  Although we had many moments of laughs and fun play, I think he stuck around long enough for us to say good-bye.

I'm no expert at all, but one thing I know is true.  There will be GOOD DAYS and BAD DAYS.  When your kitty wants to rest, let her, just stay close - sit by her side and read or quietly listen to music and just veg with her, you may be surprised that the next day she'll be up and around.

I tried not to read too much into it when my boy didn't want to play etc.  And he always surprised me and gained strength back.

The pain med Buprenex is what gave me quality time with my sweetie furball.

I hope your sweet girl is just having "one of those days".

Please keep up posted on her progress.

I tell this to everyone, but it helped me by keeping a journal of all his daily actions, eating, bathroom habits, med times,  all and any progress.  I found that his eating was better 15 minutes after his pain meds.

Best to you and your sweet girl.  Warmest regards - Hope

Thank you so much for your kind words. I just got back from my vets' office, he gave her some fluids and an appetite stimulant. I pray she will eat in a little while. We are still waiting on a batch of results from yesterdays blood work. I am going back in the morning to get a steroid shot for inflammation he would not give it tonight because of other meds I had already given her. I will have her at least one more night she always sleeps with me she follows me wherever I go and even the bathroom. I just love her so much she has been my companion through happy and sad...

Oh I am so, so, sorry to hear this.. I have been going through some really tuff times with my guy, so I can somewhat understand how you are feeling..You are doing your best..never ever forget that..you are doing everything from love...

Your baby is so sweet looking.. such a sweet face.. but you can see the sadness in her eyes.. I always look at eyes--they can tell us so much.

You are doing the absolute best you can for her. You are loving her and taking such good care of her. Allow her to be and do whatever she wants.. right now she wants your love.. she knows you love her--no one but you know the extent of your love, but you kitty understands.. right now, it appears that she is in pain. It hurts us in our hearts, as much as it physically hurts our babies.. You love her. You do not want to see her suffer... she is too young.. it is not supposed to happen this way.. but life is so unfair..

Your baby was given to you for a reason.. to give you unconditional love.. in return, you loved her and too excellent care of her... Yes, she has been through a lot of bad times with you.. she has been your one constant.. I understand completely.

But unfortunately, that "time" comes around.. we love our babies so much that we do not want to see them in pain.. we do not want them to leave us.. but it is in love that we make the ultimate decision.,

All we can do in the meantime is love... out of pure love we we have to part.. it is heart breaking.. it is heart wrenching.. watching someone you love suffer is horrible..

These small litter creatures just worm their way into our hearts... they become a part of us.. we do not want to part with them.. but part we have to.. but only physically.. they will always be with us.. they will be a part of us, forever...never to leave us.. for the rest of our lives..

Know that everyone here is supporting you, and caring for you.. we know what you are going through.. we know how you feel.. believe me --that is so true.. anytime you need someone, they will be here for you.. this is a great group of people..

Sometimes it does help to journal.. write down your thoughts,, your feelings.. things that happen..,

Make a part of your journal all of the sweet and funny things your baby has done.. that way she is always with you...a way to remember her antics...

I do not know if this helps, but know that it is written from MY heart to yours....

((hugs))

I am sorry to say my beautiful baby was in so much distress she woke me up at 4 and I rushed her to vet where they told me more than likely her tumor had ruptured she only called out a few times and was not to responsive the vet told me it was time even though I didn't want to hear what I already knew. She is gone now with no more suffering and pain but now the pain is mine I just want to cuddle her close. Pray for me that I will heal once again from a broken heart

I am so, so sorry. As hard as it was, you did a loving thing for her. You couldn't have done more. Peace be with you.

I am so very sorry. It's so hard and there's nothing anyone can say that will take away the pain.

I'm so sorry to learn of the passing of yet another one of our TCS angels.

It's never easy.  I say this with experience, I lost both of my babies this year.

Never stop thinking about her, let yourself mourn, cry, be mad, etc.  - it's very important that you do so.

I don't know if you're aware, but there is a section, Crossing the Bridge - there you can start a thread to celebrate your  sweet girl.

I promise you - it helps.  Posting pictures and talking about her, sharing her story may lift your spirits just a little bit.

May I ask you what her name is.

My heart breaks for you, and I will keep you in my prayers.

Warmest regards, Hope

Your sweet girl is in good company, and I'm sure my angels - Simon & Chestnut will guide her.

We've lost some sweet souls this year from the TCS Family,  know you are not alone.

Sorry, I've been away for the holiday weekend and am just reading this.  I am so very sorry that you lost Kitty so soon after her diagnosis
It's never easy.  I too lost one of mine within the past year.  It doesn't seem like it now, but it will get easier as time goes by.

Again, my deepest sympathies.

Run free at the bridge, beautiful
Kitty

I'm so sorry you had to let her go but you know you did what was best for her. It's so hard to come to terms with, but you will feel better in time. :hugs:
Rest in peace little Kitty. :rbheart:
