Yes, you should help with feeding as soon as you can.   What is this kitten milk? is it real kmr, kitten mothermilk replacement, or is it such a low lactose treat milk?  You CAN begin with this treat milk, but you must have real kmr,  or goats milk is OK too.

If the kitten sucks it    Im continuing   wait

If the kitten suckles, you can use the bottle.  Tummy down, head up, may be raised up diagonally.

But be prepared you need several tries.  OR even try with something else.

One possibility is to use a sponge - for example such a sponge used for make up (beauty powder).   You drop on this kmr with a dropper, and the kitten suckles.

The other possibility if the kitten is bad at suckling, is to use a needleless syringe or a dropper.  Same postion as mentioned above. In the corner of the mouth, dropwise so you are sure the kitten swallows.  May take several tries before  you and the kitten gets hang on...

Be careful, you dont want to get the fluid in wrong throat.

Burp afterwards.

How much?  8ml/oz a day, with 4 oz it shall be 32 ml kmr or goat milks a day, say every second hour about 3 ml at a time.

Is momma taking care of the newborn?  licking and washing?  if not, YOU must do it.

Be sure the kitten is warm!   Ie some sort of active warming source.

the fluids shall be body tempered,   Beware of micro, be sure the warmth is evenly spread - easy to get the kitten burned if using micro for ehating.

Momma may have another one.   If she is ok, no visible troubles, observe, but you can wait and see.

If she seems to have any distress at all, be prepared to contact your vet, and perhaps even rush her in.

Please continue to report, even if nothing much happens.

Good luck!

Ok, you can use it to begin with.  Their PegAgs KMR in powder is more reliable.  So if you must continue with handfeeding, change either to powder, or goats milk (preferably raw, if you can get it - fresh or frozen).

But you can surely begin with this ready made KMR.

Body warm, as usual.   :)

Good luck!

They are not big and red at all. When i touch them they are not swollen. Kitten laches on and has been sucking and sucking then crys for a few mins and try to roam and loom for a new one and does it again and again

Splendid! 0.3 oz, almost 10 grammes, its what we want to see in a healthy kitten.  May be more, but preferably not less.

Yes, 1 kitten isnt that unusal.  Not the most common, but not unique.

Good news about the milk finally coming in!  I've seen 1 kitten many times.  The goal should be for momma to produce milk as that has antibodies in it that will help ward off illnesses in the baby.  Until then it will need supplement feeding which is very time consuming.  An oral syringe works well if a bottle does not work.  If baby has a round tummy and is sleeping comfortably then he is feeding and all is well.

If momma is OK, and the milk is coming in as it shall, you may perhaps want to get in some fosterlings, whom shall also be "breast-littermates" to your one kitten.

Its an advantage for your kitten to have littermates...   It is also in some ways easier for this catmomma.   Not even mentioning you may do good to others  in need.  Orphans or kittens from some big litter.

Really the only you must look up with, is these fosterlings shall be reasonably healthy.  You dont want to draw on yourself some horrible disease, if for example, the momma died in a contagion. Or he shelter which want to cooperate with you, is disease stricken.  (which both happens).

Nothing you must do, if you dont want, but if you are keen on the idea, its possible to do and often welcome.

Be glad she has only one! Now she can devote all her attention to her little one. Maybe you will keep both momma & baby?

When my Harry was born I could see his tiny nuts from the get go. His siblings were girls.

Momma sounds like a first-time momma who is inexperienced. She should stay with her kitten to keep him warm because he has no siblings to huddle with. You will have to watch carefully that he does not get cold. It will be a little hard for him getting older since he won't have siblings to play with, but I can tell that you will do your best for him.

I would add a heating source to the nest. A sick filled with raw rice and microwaved for 5 minutes will hold heat for a few hours.

I know you said this is to be mom's only litter. Just wanted to add that she needs to stay 100% inside and away from intact males until she is spayed. She can get pregnant again at any time, even without going into heat. She can be spayed once the baby is 8 weeks old.

Would love to see more photos!

Mother cats do not stay with their kittens non-stop, so a heat source is an excellent idea since there are no litter mates to cuddle with. Cats in the wild leave kittens for hours when they go in search of food. The rice sock or a heating pad set on low and placed under the blanket is also ideal. Glad the kitten is gaining weight and doing well! [emoji]128522[/emoji]
