Beau (along with his sister and aunt) was given to me as a housewarming gift when I moved back to the province where I come from. When he was old enough he got spayed but it must have been in his second year when he first had crystals in his urine. A special diet didn't seem to help and he had to be catheterized numerous times before he finally underwent a penis removal surgery in 2009.

Having found the perfect diet as well, nothing was standing in our way. Sure in times of stress his crystals would play up and I had to put him on pain relief and high dilution food, but other than that he was a happy cat.

He loved kittens and whenever young stuff would come in he would be 'Uncle Beau'.

He moved around the house a couple of times before finally settling down with his sister in the master bedroom. We would cuddle under the blankets around bedtime, play with toys and sometimes he'd bully his sister.

When Kali joined the master bedroom group, he was happy to have a kitten to look after again but at the beginning of this year he wasn't fit. His fur was greasy and he had stress. I seperated him and he didn't seem to want to go back to a group, so he moved to my daughter's room and he seemed content.

Around the summer, Flynn the Ragdoll became his roommate after having enough of his group and at the end of the summer Beau's sneezing started. We went to the vet in September after his sneezing got so bad he sneezed up some blood. He was put on antibiotics but the discharge didn't subside, so about a month later a different antiobiotic and then again a month later yet another antibiotics.

Last week was his worst, he had a lump on his lip, he would hardly eat and after going back to the vet his blood turned out to be okay. My vet suggested a rhinoscopy to see if there was something in his nose.

This morning I went to the other vet and they had a look in his nose. When they finished he came and got me to look at some pictures of the scopy. The back of Beau's nasal cavity was covered in tiny polyps. They had tried to remove some causing bleeding and decided to confer with me before going further.

They could have removed the polyps but they would most likely(75% chance) grow back and more numerous causing Beau discomfort and when you looked at the last year he might have made it to the end of next year or sooner.

I knew it wasn't fair on Beau to put him through this so after much deliberation and calling my husband we decided not to wake him up....................

We took him to be cremated and his urn is an orb with pawprints on it. It was so hard for me to leave him there. i just wanted to hold him and cuddle him.

Beau, my sweet orange buddy, I love you so very much...I miss you and the tears won't stop flowing....you'll be in our hearts forever..

oh hun beau looks adorable. I'm so sorry for your loss how old was he? Your photos are lovely of him and other cats. My cat rosie was put to sleep about 2 weeks ago now. Still dosent feel real she was my world so loveable. she was 20 years old and part of the family. I can relate to how u feel for a month I was nursing rosie it upset me cos her back legs had gone. I couldn't stop crying and my bedroom felt so empty I was heart broken we had such a bond for 18 years. If u ever need to talk I'm here?

I'm so sorry for the loss of your darling Beau. Thank you for sharing him and sharing what a special kitty Uncle Beau was. Beau's life was filled with nothing but love because of you. In the end, you showed Beau how much you loved him by putting his needs and quality of life before yours. That is truly the ultimate gift of love. You helped ease Beau's transition over the Rainbow Bridge no matter how hard it was and is for you. I'm so sorry you had to make this terrible decision far too soon but know that Beau is at peace and is running and playing over the Bridge. I'm confident that Beau would want you to feel some comfort in knowing he is ok.

Sending you lots of love and hugs

Please accept my sincere condolences, I know how much a broken heart can ache. You cared so much for that wonderful little boy, and I'm sure he felt it. You went above and beyond in his care, he is grateful for the extra time you gave him over the years. He sounds like such a sweet boy, his patience and love for those kittens shines through. He was sent to this earth to bring you joy and happiness, and he fulfilled his destiny. Now he is called home to send his love and comfort from above. Although he will be terribly missed, the bond you formed with him can never be taken from you, use it and your precious memories to comfort yourself when you feel the pain. My heart goes out to you, I'll say a prayer for you all, take care, and thank you for letting us know about this wonderful boy. RIP sweet Beau, you will never be forgotten and will forever more be held tenderly in a heart that misses you so very much. Sleep tight, sweet Prince!
