I thought this was hilarious! People posted pictures of their pets before and after they praise them with "good boy" or "good girl". The difference between dogs and cats was never so clear

We could try doing this here! @Draco  I wonder what happens when you "good boy" a gecko?

Lilith LOVES to be praised and soaks it up like a sponge. She loves to lay next to me on the bed and I pet her silky fur and tell her how beautiful she is, how much we love her, what a good girl she is, etc and she leans her head back, squeezes her eyes shut and purrs. The more praise I give her, the louder she purrs. She cannot get enough. She is a little diva. Sophie likes it too but not as much as her sister. Henry doesn't pay much attention to it.

I had to try this for myself.  Results were mixed.

Paul before

Paul after hearing effusive praise about how wonderful he is.

Chula before

Chula after hearing how wonderful she is - takes a few steps and drops into the roll of joy.

I've now learned that reptiles and birds care more about their humans' good opinions that Paul does.  Chula, however, does seem to take delight in being praised.

Obviously, Chula can be an honorary dog

I tried this experiment on a stinkbug that is currently living on my desk, whom I shall call "Stinky". He exhibited a positive response to being called a "Good boy", even though I could not ascertain the gender of the stinkbug. It's 5:52 AM, and my eyes are blurry.

Although the test subject did not live long after this experiment, I conclude that stinkbugs react in a positive manner when praised. I think.

If Sammy is laying in front of me, & I say, "who's mamma's good girl? Is Sammy mommy's good girl?" And she'll usually tilt her head back to look at me & for a kiss on the head. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Huh. Molli and I were in bed last night; she was curled up in my arms. I looked at her and said, "Molli, you're a good girl. Such a good little girl." She kinda looked at me, yawned, and meowed. "Yeah, no kidding!" And stuck her head back into my arm.

Speedy is definitely like Lileth, Chula and Abby.  She will flop and show her belly and keep rolling and rubbing against me, she definitely loves the praise

Mingo gives me a slow blink when I praise him, and Lily purrs louder, rubbing her cheek against my hand.

@DreamerRose, Speedy gives me the slow blink too, like Mingo, I actually find it amazing to go back and forth slow-blinking with her.  It is definitely intentional communication as far as I believe.

Well, anyway, I decided on a little experiment myself and was asking Speedy -

me  -  "are you a good girl"??

speedy - a very short, definitive   "ree-oo"!

me again - "Speedy, are you a good girl"?

speedy - another very definitive "ree-oo"!  It sounds so much like she is answering yes!!  We can go back and forth and I am always amazed by it!
