Ah...so now we come to it...the last holiday question of the year from me, at least until NEXT year, when I may very well forget what I've asked THIS year, and repeat myself

But for now:

Any big plans for New Year's Eve?

I, myself, will be at home with a bottle of Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot, and Hekitty.  I was invited to go to the "Hallelujah Fest" at Suzanne's church, but it starts at 10pm, and ends at 2am, and a good portion of that is church service.  I'm not sure how my hip would hold up to pews and folding chairs for 4 hours.  I 'm thinking not too well.  And my bottle of wine and my cat just sound SO cozy, and SO just right!

Whenever people ask me about our New Year's Eve plans, I say I'll be camping behind one of the sofas with the cat, and DH will go to bed well before midnight. Far too many people around here set off fireworks, so anybody with pets can't in good conscience do anything but keep them company.

Today is the 28th.
Fixed it.

I'll be at home with the cats too. I'd like to go out, but I live half way up a volcano. There are no buses after 6 pm. Taxi won't come here because there aren't any proper roads and Mr Husband will have the car.

(He has to work late shift on the 31st and then starts at 5 am on the 1st! He works in a hotel and people come here at the end of the year to get up early and see the first sun rise on Mount Fuji. Why? What kind of craziness is this?)

I will have a bottle of wine, a stack of DVD's, chocolate, some very nice bath oils and a big pile of purring kitties. I'll be fine.

I'll be in bed with my hubby and a pile of cats long before midnight. But no worry, the fireworks that come with this holiday will wake us all up at the stroke of the New Year! I say a little prayer that the New year will be Happy and Healthy, I figure it doesn't hurt to try. I always hope it is really cold so they don't last for hours, that shows my age doesn't it?!

Rick and I will stay up to see the beginning of 2017 (I think the end of 2016 will be more of a relief than anything). We usually watch a bunch of movies on On Demand (Rick has been scouring On Demand, looking for some interesting movies; so far we are thinking of The Secret Life of Pets and The Martian, but there are others on his list, too, I'm sure). I will make some appetizer-type foods and our Big Sandwich. Some shrimp, some wings, etc.

We'll probably go to sleep around 2:30 -3:00.

We have fireworks around here, too. And lots of gun-shooting. The usual stuff.

...with the cats...
i'll be snuggled in bed, possibly with a cat or three. there might be some fireworks and/or gun fire just after midnight, which we'll try to ignore and hope it stops in short order. i'll watch some videos of New Year's fireworks from around the world on New Years Day, on youtube.

Just lounging around and resting because I have to work New Year's Day... all day just like I did on Christmas
New Year's Day might actually be worse because the lab will likely start putting in requests so they have stuff to use during the week when they're back from the holidays.

Nope. We're not much for all the hoopla surrounding New Year's. Me especially, never was. I don't get why it's such a big deal.

Usually we just see a movie and have dinner.  And hope we stay awake until the ball drops.  I still have the bottle of champagne I bought last year because we couldn't stay awake. Maybe this year we'll be able to crack it open

Interesting to see others here have just about the same plans LOL.

Fireworks and gun-shooting?! None of that around here, thankfully. We don't have plans, either. I imagine we'll be staying home with kitties as well. This New Year's Eve will be the 7th anniversary of our "Gotcha Day" for Zoe and Rico. We cancelled on going to a NYE party that night so we could stay home with our new kittens, and I don't think we've been to a NYE party since. :lol3:

There's always gun shooting going on by me. Down the road from us it's all citrus groves, fields full of cattle and horse ranches. There's plenty of room for people to have target practice. We will have some fireworks but not a lot and the cats don't seem to be affected by them

It will be just DD and me. She's not feeling well right now. She has a pretty bad cold. She also just started a job a couple of weeks ago. She had to work last night from midnight to 8 this morning. Poor kid. She has to go in tonight too for the overnight shift. I'm hoping she is feeling better by the weekend. I'm keeping her on soup, OJ and cold medicine.

NYE will be quiet. She wasn't feeling well on Christmas so we really didn't do anything. She didn't even eat her cheeseburger. My steak went in the freezer. Good thing I didn't mention it to the kids.
They will get some when I finally make it. I ended up accidentally defrosting a turkey wing instead of a chicken breast that day so I roasted that for them and they liked it a lot. I shredded the meat and used it as a topper for their supper. They had chicken breast the next day so they were quite pleased.

I still have the makings for margaritas so I think I will have some on NYE. If DD is feeling better I will make her a special dinner. After tonight she is off until Monday. It will give her time to recuperate.

We used to go to our neighbors who live a block away but none of us could stay up past midnight so we haven't done that for several years.  It will be DH and I home with our beloved kitty, Carleton.  We will search for a good movie on TCM and if we're lucky make it until Chi town rising.

I'm not really doing anything but staying home with Angel in bed. Probably will watch some specials on tv. :)

@Winchester - I recommend The Secret Life of Pets! It's so cute. :)

I have zero interest in NYE. I enjoy New Year's Day though - new calendars is my favorite thing.
I just bought my Gary Patterson Cat Calender for 2017 and am NOT opening it until NYD!  It's my special New Year treat to myself!  I have all of them from 2008 tucked safely away!

I haven't done anything for New Year's Eve for years.

I have been having a harder and harder time find a nice wall calendar.  I guess I am old fashioned about that, I used to get a half a dozen or so as freebies at the end of the year and at least one of them would have nice pictures.  The first time I see them in a store I buy one.  I got one with wolves this time, I had that one a few years ago.  I get one with cats or dogs or both if they have one but they didn't have one when I bought the one that I have now.   My 2016 calendar has a picture of a kitten and puppy together for each month.

Gosh, we get so many free, I could have sent half a dozen to you. From our donations to various animal causes we get more animal calendars than we can use.

Same here, we get all different types of pet calendars from various animal/wildlife organizations that we donate to.  We also get free cat calendars from our vet.

Here's a link to an online calendar company: http://www.calendars.com/Pets-|-Animals/cat00171/  and here's another link to a calendar store in some of the malls, you can search by their store locator: http://www.goretailgroup.com

This calendar is something I buy myself. I love turn-a-page-daily calendars. http://www.calendars.com/Cat-Galler...edition=2017&gclid=CMGlrb3_l9ECFcSKswodfuMLDw

Also my word-a-day calendar, which is a must have. http://www.calendars.com/365-New-Wo...edition=2017&gclid=CKzq6c6AmNECFYtMDQodfZ8L7A
