kitten breathing fast while sleeping

I noticed my 7 month old kitten breathing fast while sleeping. I expect it might be dreaming related or position related (curled in in a circle instead of laying straight). Is that anything to be concerned about, and if so, what would I watch for?

It's very noticeable when they are lying curled up, isn't it? One of mine has a heart murmur so I've watched her sleep on a number of occasions worrying that her heart was beating too fast after finding out she had a heart murmur. Kittens hearts naturally beat very fast, about 200 to 260 beats per minute but if you are concerned give your vet a ring.

Can you time it?  Count the breaths over 15 seconds then multiply by 4 for breaths per minute.  At rest or asleep a cat should be breathing less than 30 breaths per min, usually 20 or less.  Sometimes cats will have a brief spell where they breathe faster (maybe dreaming?) but this is usually temporary, and more shallow breathing.  Labored or rapid deep breathing is very concerning although unusual in such a young cat.  Has her breathing changed recently?

Thanks.  I checked his breathing while he was relaxed, and it was less that 30 breaths per minute.  I also have not noticed any labored breathing or any changes.  So, I think the kitten is pretty normal, and I was being overly concerned.
