Hey everyone,

Less than 1 week to till Zoe goes to be spayed. She's going on the 2nd. I'm pretty sure she's going into heat again, I rode up to the vet today to ask if that causes a problem, and they told me they will still do it, it'll just cost more. Urgh. Even though at her appointment a week ago doesn't believe she's been in heat yet, that she's not old enough. She's 4 and half months old. She's very hormonal. She's rubbing on things, and being very vocal, and her attitude is through the roof. I don't know if she's putting off weird smells, but Lily won't even be in the same room with her without growling at her. She's been attacking  Lily a lot more aggresively than usual, and Lily wants nothing to do with her.  I am just so nervous about next week, worried about what if something goes wrong.  Will she hate me? I don't know why I have so many questions running through my head, I did this four years ago, with Lily, and she did fine, and so did Callie(R.I.P sweet girl). They told me the e-collar is a must. I hate making her more miserable than she already is going to be. Lily didn't get a cone and she healed fine. Then, the pain meds. They are PILLS. how do you get a cat to take a pill? Why can't the make it easier, and make it a liquid medication? It seems like I'm paying all this money, when it seemed so much easier with Lily when I took her to a low cost spay clinic. They had given me pre measured vials of medication. I just want this to go smoothly, and for her to be healthy and happy, and to forgive me and not hate me. She will forgive and forget right? Poor baby has no idea whats coming to her. Any advice or thoughts that will put my mind and ease just a little for Monday?

She won't hate you, animals don't put things together and 'hate' the way we human's do.  There is a medicine called Buprenex that isn't a pill.  It is on the expensive side though.  You get each dose in a narrow syringe.  The liquid goes between the gum and cheeks so it is absorbed through the mucus membranes.  It is very effective.  The main issue that comes up with spaying while a cat is in heat is more bleeding, there is one big advantage though.  The  organs are engorged with blood so there is much less of a chance that a small amount of an ovary is left behind.

I didn't put a cone on my last kitty when she was spayed.  I was told if she kept messing with the incision then I would have to put a cone on her.  She left it alone and she healed up fine.
