You know that when you have constipation and have to take a laxative, it takes time for that stool softener to go through your system and work.  Same thing with Artie.  I just hear exhaustion talking from you.  He will poop, if he needs to go back to Rvet tomorrow, OK, so be it.  You are so tired that you are not paying attention to the wonderful things Artie is doing right now, such as eating well, feeling good, playing hard and having the zoomies.  All GOOD THINGS!!  Like LT3 said, 1 MORE WEEK, you're in the home stretch now.  Not a terrible thing if you have to go to the Rvet tomorrow, hey, maybe you won't have to go.  I am so sorry at how tired and exhausted you are, and I know there is not a darn thing you can do about that.  Our hearts and prayers are with you, Artie's mom.  This cheer is just for you. mom.  Artie gets love and praise all the time.  This one is JUST FOR YOU!!  What a wonderful person!!  You'll make it through all this, I promise

Thanks for the butt kick... I needed it.. Yes, I am forgetting all the awesome stuff he has been doing the past week or 10 days... he is amazing me..

Thank you!  Yes, he has come a long way... a complete turn around..I guess exhausted is not the most accurate word. I get anxious very easily..That is just my make up... I guess because I try so hard, and when I fail or something does not go the way I try/want it to go, well, I get anxious...thank you again...

Kind of feel I am on the right track here; between R Vet and N Vet...

**************************************************************************

He did Poop!!! I did not expect it.. It must have been in-between one of his zoomie sessions. I just went to scoop the box, for the second time this  morning and discovered it there!!!

Not a huge amount but I will take it... 4 1/2 by 1 inch... and a bit harder.. but it is there!! my good, sweet boy,.....and he did not even move when I gave him his sub-q's. He was so good...

I tried a smaller needle today, so it took a bit longer.. He did not move.. he moved his head a bit, his ears back, but did not move until I took the needle out, squeezed the area a bit, kissed him and told him that he is such a good boy.. then he walked off the couch...

Artie is now in his quilt/tent.. done for the day, until late this afternoon.

Gotta go...

And remember, he's on a different food that MAY produce lesser stools.  Also, remember when I mentioned mixing the miralax with just a teeny amount of food and letting him EAT it instead of trying to syringe it to him and you said you can't always count in him eating?  When I said teeny amount of food, I was talking about maybe a teaspoon!  Just put that out for him and wait until he eats it.  Then you will know he got his miralax  and there will be no fighting with him.  Once he eats it, then give him more food.  Couldn't that work?  Or, like I said, maybe use watered down tuna or clam juice,.  A little can go a long way...maybe just a drop or two  in a teas of the miralax mix.  You could still just give him 1 teas. per serving of miralax, so that would only be 2 teas. per day of "fish" water.  Would that be so bad?  Esp. of it were really watered down...just enough for him to smell a little tuna or clam?

HAPPY SIGH...we have poop.  And after what he did before, I'm sure he was pretty emptied out.  And, as has been mentioned, the higher quality foods produce less residue (poop), so there is that.  AND he's feeling good, over all.  AND we're a week out from N Vet!  Life is good, just now!

I came back home, finding Artie in the exact same position as he was when I left him. He did not touch his food, he was busy sleeping all day!!

I gave him his meds, tried to move him around a bit, played a mini, mini-chase...

Lo and Behold,

Artie pooped again!!!!!!!

This time it was about (yes measured)   7 x 3/4 inch.. and soft...

I am crazed!!

I knew he was full of stuff.. FOS...

relief!!

Good for Artie.  He needed sleep to heal his body and help it reset.

I hope you took advantage of the day.  It was gorgeous down here, I hope you had sunshine as well. xoxo

Where do you think?
Perhaps he was getting bad vibes from you being anxious and felt he had to be anxious too. Animals can pick up on our emotions and are very sensitive to our negative ones.

Artie did not have a good morning. I think for some reason he was a bit nauseous.. He did not eat much during the night. Just lapped up the extra water with miralax.

I gave him his pepcid, liquid cisapride, and a few cc's of water with miralax as a chaser. He was in no mood for medicine this morning!

He was really bad taking it. The pepcid and cisapride are taken on empty stomachs, so I combine them.. at the S Vet, they said it was ok.. so I have been doing that... About 10 minutes later, he vomited!!!  all the cisapride!! and the water.. I could not find any evidence of the pepcid, in the gelcap, so I hope that got absorbed.

I left him alone for a while. I gave him a tiny bit of food, with mostly water.. he did not want any...

Later he went over and licked a bit of the juice/water.   He did run for a 'brushing'.. even before I got to the bedroom and his cat tree!! He loved it...only one blushful today.

He was semi interested in play.. alert, did jump a bit, but not much. I gave him the rest of his meds.... before I left.. very slowly.. the steroid, and the lactulose...he took them ok..

Artie is so strange.. up until today, he did not mind the lactulose.. in fact, i think he likes it... weird cat...

I just came home, gave him his second dose of cisapride.. he kept it down. did a quick vacuum. He was watching me. When I finished he went over to lick up some food.. I have not checked to see how much, but... I am not pushing him today. If he does not eat much tonight, I will give him a Cerenia tomorrow morning....

thinking I have his meds down... a lot more than I did a month ago.. thanks guys...

Artie has not pooped today.. but I picked him up and got a handful of poop.... yuck... he must have a tummy ache.. glad he is going to the N Vet in a few days.... YES--- A FEW DAYS!!!
I can count the days on one hand!!!  never thought it would arrive!!

Having a heck of a time finding his food!!  of course I pick a food which has limited ingredients, but is out of stock!!!! I even called the company last month... Hound & Gatos Lamb... They said they are having distributing issues. They are bull.. They said it is not their fault but they are a small company and the distributor was sold to a larger company and decided to end it's contract with them.. They have been running around trying to find another distributor... MAN!! Just my luck...

At the end of January, they told me that the food should be coming out in Feb... now it is mid-February... I called them yesterday.. got the same guy.. He told me that they are coming out in March... who the heck knows??

He did send me a link where Amazon has some.. Yeah, from a private vendor who is charging, get this:  $134 a case!! a case of 24, 5.5 oz cans!!!  Yes, you saw it correctly.. $134 for a case.... I pay $39... talk about price gouging!!! should be reported....

Artie is doing so good with this food. And he is eating it!! sometimes with gusto!! figures....

I found a store around here... a few town over, that had it in stock. Before I knew this, I picked up several cans... about 5.. That is when I tried to order it on line... and found the issue. I called the store a couple weeks ago, they had 12 cases in stock.. I had them hold 3 cases for me and picked up another one when I went in.

Something, in the back of my mind, started telling me yesterday to get more of the food.. On Monday I will have to open a new case.

For some reason, my mind would not allow me to put it on the back burner... I called the store today, and they only had 1 case and 12 cans left!!!! Yes, from 12 cases...my 3, which left them with 6 cases and now they only have 36 cans left....

I told them to hold them for me and I would be there in 1.5 hours.. went down there and picked them up.. They will try to get more next week. I do not need it, but they have my info for that food...they have 12 other stores, so they can look around for it.. and hold it for me...

With Chewy, I am on a contact list as to when they get it in stock.

Figures...

We all have days where we aren't hungry. This weather does not help.  You and Artie are together and he is aware of that. Keep up your wonderful care of him and the new Dr. will soon be on his case.  You are an excellent kitty caregiver and any cat would be truly treasured to live in your home.

thank you... I am not panicking.. I think I know what to do... I am so grateful the N Vet will be on board soon..

I dread the ride and traffic en route there and back.. but it is for a good cause.. small things can be handled with the R Vet.. so I am ok...

Thanks again for the compliments...

Actually the weather is not bad, today..
