I have a theory that women with curly hair want straight hair, and women with straight hair want curly hair. There was a woman at work with red hair who came in one day with lovely flowing curls down to her shoulders. They weren't kinky curls or frizzy curls, just beautiful cascades of loose curls. She looked like a Renaissance princess. We all admired her and told her how beautiful it looked. She apologized and said she overslept that morning and hadn't had time to straighten her hair.

My hair is baby fine and straight.  When I was in college (early '70s) young women were actually ironing their hair to get it straight!  I never understood this; I was trying to figure out how to get mine to curl without having to sleep on curlers or get a perm.

Right now we're really short on money, and I'm having trouble finding extra to go in and get a badly needed haircut.  I've saved my "recipe" for the perfect haircut (an index card written by an extremely good hair dresser before my lost decade, with detailed measurements and instructions that result in my hair looking and feeling good) for future use, but in the meantime I'm letting it grow.  It's currently at the
stage.  I'm just trying to use enough clippies to keep it out of my face and off my neck, and always wearing a hat in public.  Once it gets longer I'll put it in a chignon and it will look good on me,  But I'm not cutting it again until I'm sure I'll be able to continue getting hair cuts whenever I need them.

And it doesn't help that I can't find my best hat.

Poop, Artie, poop!

The drive to the NVet will be a long one for you. I hope Artie doesn't yowl too much. Leroy pretty much talks his head off during the ride to the vet and it's only about half an hour

I REALLY need a trim.  I haven't gotten one in about 2 years and my split ends are INSANE.  But, it seems like there's always something else I need to spend my money on.

late yesterday afternoon, Artie only did a 1 x 1 inch poop.. very thick...sigh

Gave him a second dose of 1 cc lactulose... He did not eat much either.. sigh again...But he did eat 1/3 of a large can during the night.

Woke up to him cuddling with me...

He is fighting me with the syringing miralax.. I do not know why. I am thinking he does not like the syringe I am using. I may switch to a different one.. but I have to go to CVS to get a new baby syringe. He keep putting his paw up to push me away.

He did not have the normal amount of miralax yesterday because he was not eating and spitting out the water with it...

double sigh

Maybe after church I will run over to CVS...

He feels so heavy... full of poop...sigh

Poop prayers headed your way!  At the risk of sounding irreverent, and I'm really not meaning to be, "this, too, shall pass," hopefully soon and in the litter box!  I'm sure that the lack of pooping explains the lack of appetite.  It hits me that way when things get backed up.

Where do you think?

Same here. I (not my cats! Fingers crossed) have had problems with constipation since I was a little kid. Don't feel like doing much when it gets backed up.

chuckling at you guys!!

But, Alas I have to say-- no poops... still.....I know it is backed up inside him.. He ate about

1 small can of food during the night. He ate about 1/4 large can this morning..
I upped his lactulose to 1.5 cc this morning.. still nothing... sigh..

but, he did play a bit.. I took out a new toy.. actually I was going to give it to my cousin's cats at Christmas, but since I did not make it there, I decided to give Artie a new "Cat Catcher"..

He loved it!! We played for around 15 minutes late this morning. Artie was jumping up for it, and going in circles for the mousey....

He did eat another 1/8 of a large can, so it is around 1/4 large can during the day... sigh..

He needs to poop...

I have to call the R Vet tomorrow... sigh...sigh, sigh...  this is getting serious now.. I wonder if we can ever get this under control, or is this the way it is is going to be.. an enema every week or 10 days... that is not good...for anyone..

how about some tuna juice? I mix the miralax in tuna juice-I mash it with a fork and Pumps laps it up until only flakes are left...I only give her a couple of tablespoons of tuna and a shot glass of water with miramix into it. so far been keeping her regular every other day. what about that cisp or whatever it's called, is he still on it? as long he is not vomiting-I wouldn't get too worried...YET...the lacto should work soon...24 hours...usually when it works...can you massage his tumtum?

Him playing will help get that colon moving....poop prayers coming up!!

Yes, he is still on the cisapride, 3 times a day.. Very strange, he has not even gone into the litter box, to strain.. weird..

It has been more than 24 hours since I began the lactulose.. very strange...

I think tomorrow may be a vet day.. sigh...

I cannot massage his belly. He has always been feisty about touching his belly--Cannot even brush his belly.. but I try, each time I pick him up.. which reminds me, I have to bother him again.. I keep waking him up.. to move..

not feeling very positive... tried waking him up, and telling him to 'dig dig, dig'... he is not even making an attempt at the litter box.. and not interested in food....

he is obstipated... man.. I am not feeling confident..sigh... regular Vet call tomorrow morning...

thinking rationally, if he is opstipated, this fast, with all the meds he is on..that means that his colon is very damaged and cannot push out the stool... sigh...

I hope we can hold on for the N Vet appointment..... I need a second opinion... but I cannot afford the surgery... thinking more pessimistically now...

Let's not think about surgery yet. Let the N Vet examine Artie and discuss with you what he feels would be the best way to treat Artie's issues. Be honest with him about what you will and won't do for Artie if finances are a concern. The hospital does offer financial aid through an internal pet care fund should you need it for a surgery or more intensive diagnostic procedures.
